Don't know if anyone answered this about the mouse. But in season 2 when Kimiko was talking to her brother she mentioned that when they were kids in the camp her brother saved a mouse and took care of it.

The significance of the mouse is that Kimiko's nickname for her brother was "Little Mouse"

They could save Butcher with Compound V. Show has only said that they are giving it to babies because the risk is minimal. But in the first season they were giving it to adult terrorists. Vicky's daughter was 12 when Vicky gave it to her. One of the reasons they don't give it to adults is because they don't know if it will work or what their powers will be. But Temp V proofs that Butcher can handle V and shows what powers he will have. Kimiko also lost her powers and got them back with Comp V. Now, it's debatable if she had some power left in her, but I'm assuming Soldier Boy removes all traces of V.

Butcher didn't go out fighting. But, he also didn't go out covered in nekkid dudes. Who apparently can only splinter with a stiffie.
