SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORM FORMATION CAUGHT ON CAMERA - MONTREAL 13/07/2023

Here is a video of a rare phenomenom caught on camera

What is a Supercell?
Supercells are storms (usually, but not necessarily, thunderstorms) that contain updrafts that rotate about a vertical axis. This rotation is derived from shear in the environmental wind field (that is, a change in wind direction and / or speed with height) surrounding the storm as it begins to grow.

How is a supercell formed?
A supercell begins like other thunderstorms when the ground is really hot and the air near the ground becomes very warm and humid. The warm air expands and rises rapidly, which creates strong updrafts. When the rising air cools, its water vapor condenses. The updrafts create tall cumulonimbus clouds
