1. Use satin hair bands 2. Wash your hair regularly 3. Leaving protective styles on for too long 4. Shower 5. Rinse out your conditioner with cool water instead of hot water 6. Dry hair gently with a T-shirt or micro fibre fabric 7. Stop sleeping in your conditioner 8. Don’t comb dry hair. Spray it lightly before detangling 9. Clean your hair tools! 10. Use a thermal protector before using heat on your hair

I am going back to combing dry hair. When I was a kid with natural hair, I braided my hair every single night and my hair grew longer. Getting out shed hairs at least once a week is so important but not discussed much. Shed hairs that stay in your hair cause tangles. If your hair is strong, you should not have breakage. Keeping the sheds hairs out will make combing your hair easier. It's the shed hairs that cause breakage, tangles and matting.

I just succeeded in growing my edges back. I totally embrace the letting the hair breathe in between protective styles. Natural hair is actually hard work tbh

What a public service announcement!!!!!! I am shocked! I’ve been doing everything wrong! Natural for 15 years, with damage and slow growth. Now there’s hope thank you❤
-
I am guilty of the over protective styling, the towels, and not cleaning hair tools. I just decided to give my hair a forced break from braids. It's hard because I don't like dealing with my hair. I'm taking notes❤

You are soooooo right for the most part .... but for me i found the cool water rinsing actually ruined my hair made it incredibly dry and resistent to moisturising. It took a couole years to get it back to normal with a warm rinse.

I’ve been natural for almost 14 years and this video was a refreshing reminder of when and how my hair truly grew. Thank you for sharing as I need to go back to these vital tips. Blessings.

May we have a tutorial for this beautiful hairstyle please? I’m begging. This is stunning and so classy.

One of the best natural hair videos I’ve watched in a while. I learned so much and starting so many little changes. We just have to be patient. Thank you❤️

Hey Beautiful Karen, could you put this on your list if you have not had a video on women in peri and menopause. Thinning and shedding is what a lot of women encounter. You know 10 points on what should be done for natural hair doing this hormonal change journey. If you can color treat still or use rinses what is best. Thanks for all you do.

Thanks for the great tips. Rinsing my conditioner out with cool water has made a big difference. I have a whole house filtration system. Florida has some of the hardest water in the country. I wash my tools in hot water and dawn/bleach after every wash. I'm a little extra. Age has turned me into a germaphobe.

Before I wash my hair every week, I use acv and I have noticed the change. I also change my scarf every week💥

You really informed about the cold water,I notice the difference immediately. Thanks

Helpful information since I wore a buzzcut for more than 40 years, then COVID-19 hit..no more trips to my stylist..I have been natural most of my life..had a perm in 1995; colored it red in 2003 for about three years; in 2008, deciding no more color. Now I just braid it every night, fluff it the next day..and just let it grow..

The main takeaway is the rinse in cold water, thsnks😊

See what I know is that we Africans of the diaspora keep promoting Marcus Garvey Social Role Valorization. My Black mother did not teach me nothing about loving my hair as she was a victim of RWS coming out of Clarksdale, MS. She hates her natural hair at 80 something shows the deep level of psychosis from RWS on Black #babyboomers. So now today, I am challenged to love my natural hair and protect my garden as I call it and learned about gardening. Thank you Ms. Karen for this. The motherly wisdom is welcomed infinity Ms. Karen as we African women of the diaspora must do for each other. ❤️🖤
