We Should Talk About Hip-Hop Soundtracks

Published 2024-06-11
I'm sure everyone is familiar with the concept of a movie companion album, but I reckon that comparatively fewer have sat down to listen to one in it's entirety. Why do people ignore these albums when discussing hip-hop, and should they?

Of course not.

the grinch movie did so well because of is wide appeal. thats the whole point of illumination, to make shitty movies that everyone wil want to see. having tyler on the soundtrack helped with that- teenagers won't complain about going to see a silly animated christmas movie if there's an artist they like working on the project :0
  • Deep Cover has an insanely good soundtrack. I think its produced and currated by Dr Dre.

I think hip hop will make these movies dated in the near future. Just like how Nu Metal licensed music made its way in superhero movies back in the early 2000s and now sound awkward and a bit cringe.
