  • As a poor white 70 year old this Man is the only one who've I felt understood me. For that I am grateful 🙂
  • Upvote this comment if you think Jon and the Daily Show group should cover the Poor People's Campaign March on June 29!!
  • @Talon58
A 58 year old, white female, who raised three children, without a drop of child support from their father. My children grew up in poverty. There was times I didn't eat so they could, I went without new clothes for over 10 years, so I could provide them with clothing. I want to thank this man for saying hey what about the poor white children. Because folks, there's a lot of us. By the way my children's dad, is a white male, who at the time was making 60,000 a year. No American child should ever have to live in poverty in the United States of America

Instead of Majorie Taylor Greene, THIS MAN should be highlighted on every channel (TV, YouTube, Social Media) everywhere! Thank you one more time, Jon, for bringing to the conversation those things that the right would like kept in the dark. If Congress thinks $7.25 is a livable wage, then THEY SHOULD LIVE ON IT FOR A YEAR as a mandate. Rev. Barber, blessings in your life and work, that you should like to see the fruit of your work.
  • Daily Show, please don’t wait until Rev Dr Barber promotes his book to host him on the show again. We need him to have a regular series. He is the voice of this paradigm.

7.25. Seven dollars and 25 pennies for an hour of work. No health care! In the richest country in the world. 😢 I am ashamed for our country.

America is more than happy to spend an average of about $40,000 a year to keep one person in prison, and has the highest incarceration rate in THE WORLD per capita, but gets big mad when asked to spend one shiny penny extra to go to schools, or other social programs that can help break the cycle of poverty. Instead of 'a rising tide lifts all boats', America says 'let's subsidize yachts!' ...and blames people who drown for not having 'innate knowledge' of how to build a boat, or even if they do have the knowledge, blame them for not having the tools to be able to do so. 👏👏👏 to Barber!!! He is the kind of 'talking head' we need more of. Straight up common sense without all the B.S.

Reverend Barber is a tireless advocate for poor people. I am not religious, but I do admire the gospel of Jesus and I can easily imagine Reverend Barber walking with him had he lived in that time. He is the pastor of a small church, and his sermons are live cast. I encourage everyone to drop in on one. You will be uplifted.
  • I'm an atheist and Rev William Barber is my favorite Christian, you can tell he balances both pain and peace in his heart, it is admirable and his work is inspiring
  • @dshepherd107

Love that MLK's Poor People's Campaign has been kept alive by Rev. Barber.
  • @bigjfodayz
As a non-religious person, I found myself shocked, thinking "How can I work with this man?". He has a clear and reasonable message which if enacted, could change the country for the better.Thank you for this interview Jon Stewart!!!!
  • I rode the bus to Raleigh to stand with Rev. Barber. Do not be fooled that he is not one of the smartest men who advocate against the poverty in America! Thank you Jon Stewart for conducting this interview~! JUNE 29TH 2024 WASHINGTON DC. BE THERE!
  • Had the pleasure of sharing a meal with this man some years ago. His message is universal, and I wish many people would listen to him.
  • @pisces363
You’ll never see Reverend Dr. Barber on Fox. That’s the audience that really needs to hear what he has to say.
  • @armingt1
Politicians always talk about “the middle class”, never the “working class”. It’s like they are ashamed to even say the words.
  • The wealth gap is getting bigger and bigger in this country everyday. Addressing it will not just benefit the very, very poor but will also help those of us in the so-called middle class who are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet. The situation is inexcusable in a country that possesses so much wealth.
