NYC is getting too Expensive | Moving back Home at 32

It's been an amazing 3 years living in Brooklyn, New York City. This was my first apartment ever and I moved out at 29 with a roommate. Unfortunately, summer time is peak season for apartment hunting and prices are getting out of hand. I'm glad that I have the option to move back home for a bit. The plan is to do some traveling and then slowly find a new place that is within my budget that I'll love.

Moving was rough though. You really don’t know how much stuff you have until you have to move. If I could I would hire movers next time.

so discouraging learning about how hard and expensive it is to move to nyc, since I'd really like that to be my first time moving out. I don't have any potential roommates though, but I also know I'd probably enjoy having own place better. Thanks for the insider look and hope you had a smooth move!

ha when you are born and raised and going back home is just staying in NYC. Love it.

Good luck on your next adventure! 🎉❤
  • I moved back to my parent's rental age 30. It was an affordable rental place and we lived there happily together for many years, until we found out that the building is not earthquake resistant. We then moved to the new building next door - 4 times the rent but we decided a safe home should be our priority (duh!). But now rents have gone insane her in Istanbul as well. The landlady wants 100% increase - she's not happy with the 160% increase from last year! Total insanity. The law is on our side, but rents being high all around the world is simply .... unacceptable. Your dog is the cutest! ❤

NYC has been too expensive for ages. It’s neat to live there - but there’s a price to pay for that. It’s affordable if you either make a lot to be able to offset the cost, or you barely have any room, or have to compromise on where you live if you don’t make a lot. Otherwise, you live there for a while to get it out of your system, and then move out once the realization sets in, or you’ve exhausted your ability to be there while living at a certain standard…
