Note: As of the latest nightly builds for 0.49, OpenMW does have support for complex lua mods and shader support. The vast majority of mods most people will want to use now have a version for OpenMW or another modder has recreated the same concept with a different implementation. There are, of course, notable exceptions. Like Ashfall.

Nice video, Mr. Moonshine. You certainly convinced me! ;-) Looking forward to more of your videos...

You've convinced me, I'm going for OpenMW, never played Morrowind past Seyda Neen, it's about time I try it for real.

Your loadout looks gorgeous and you really concisely sold me on the new improvements. I hope you keep up with openMW and your videos keep new blood and old blood alike invigorated and on track to turn morrowind into the best vintage experience, and help the game evolve to compete with modern experiences. Voices like this keep the community alive.

You've answered all my questions and far more than I'd had and that's awesome. Concise script and that punchy finish. I dig. Much appreciated and thank you.

I've used OpenMW a lot in the past, this video is a great explanation as to why the community should start using it too I've heard so many times that people give up on it because it's hard to install mods on it but honestly it's not a big deal once you learn how to do it properly, just like every other Bethesda game

Great vid. I'm on neither, but may need to get OpenMW and dive into Morrowind in 2021. These features are fantastic.

great video. one more bonus of OpenMW: loading times between interior and exterior cells is near instant. I almost never get a loading bar when changing cells. it feels so smooth walking in and out of doors in OpenMW.

OpenMW user here for the past 6 years or so. It's an amazing client, aged and got better with time. This shows that we LOVE and enjoy the aspect and everything of Morrowind when we are here watching videos of it YEARS later. Great video. Looking forward to seeing you N'was!

My jaw dropped at Necrom; I thought my graphic mods loadout was pretty, but this blew it away! I just finished the Main Quest for the first time two weeks ago, but I think I'm ready to nuke my current OpenMW installation and re-mod it if I can make it this pretty too.
  • ". . .you can install and uninstall mods in the middle of a playthrough." Holy god. Why didn't I know about this when I tried MW for the first time last year? I just came back after missing the game and have no idea what mods I had installed or how to retrieve them. Basically just said "screw it" and started over. I'm also guessing this is why OpenMW didn't recognize my older saves. Really great information that has me committed to installing the Total Overhaul mod list for OpenMW. . . .if only someone could do a 1 to 1 console UI mod (no idea if that is even possible).

The fact that I can ALT+TAB without it crashing 99.99% of the time is enough reason for me to use OpenMW, everything else is icing on the cake.

If only someone can come up with a mod for full controller supprort (including d-pad menu navigation) kinda like NorthernUI for Oblivion, that'd be great! *Precise point-and-click and faster menu navigation with the K&M is nice and all but I'd gladly ditch it over being able to sink in a bean bag/couch in front of a large TV.
  • @ZDanielPhoenix
I haven't kept up with OpenMW at all; and I'm blown away by this. Amazing work.
  • @RyanBride620
Great content, you have good presentation, cadence, and a voice for expositing information.

Great video! I switched to OpenMW all the way back in 2016, when it didn't even have functional shadows as well as many other features it has now. Never regreted it. It's like you've said in the video - what's the point of all those graphics enhancers if you can't even play the game? And OpenMW was super stable and easy to use even back then. And I knew that it's only going to get better with newer versions.

I saw a showcase for this project pop into my recommended last night. I teared up a little watching it. Time to visit my favorite era on Tamriel again~
  • Game looks amazing. Kudos to you :D I've just updated to OpenMW 0.47 and it just keeps getting better. That's some modlist, not sure my rig could cope, lol. I also have never had a crash on OpenMW. I've only been with it since 0.46 but for a modded Elder Scrolls game that is amazing. I still need to play more with tweaks but will wait until I finish my current playthrough. Great video. Subscribed :D

Great video. Thank you. OpenMW's newest update has more than sold me, even before this video. I just wanted to hear someone else gush about it
