Shulk is a little bit different between each game. Honestly this video is basically a Shulk fan-cam.

Also there's no way to remove the music in the cutscenes from blaring over the audio, so I tried my best to mix everything.

Music Used:
Riki The Legendary Hero - Xenoblade Chronicles OST
Mechanical Rhythm - Xenoblade Chronicles OST
You Will Know Hour Names - Xenoblade Chronicles OST

Metal face in smash: MoNaD0 bOy Metal face in Xenoblade: My claw slid through her soft flesh; like a hot knife through butter. Her screams were music to my ears.

I'm convinced this is just a recruitment video to get smash players to play xenoblade and I wholeheartedly endorse it.

my headcanon for why shulk has this goofy confidence in smash and why he says “now it’s shulk time” is because he’s actually really nervous to be in smash so he’s pretending to be like reyn for confidence.

Shulk according to smash players: Violence is never the answer. Shulk according to xenoblade players: Violence is the question. And the answer is yes.

The funniest part is that shulk went from a campy mechanic and scientist to this in like 2 days.

Okay, but memes aside, can we all take a moment to appreciate just how much soul Shulk’s English VA puts into his performance?
  • The only reason why he's overly happy in smash is because he doesn't have to endure the pain and sadness that he has to go through in the plot of his own series.
  • @krissjames7276
Too true. It's amazing just how many people have a completely wrong impression of Shulk because of Smash.

When you compile the action scenes like that... and play mechanical rhythm in the background (instead of the usual engage the enemy that those cutscenes mostly have playing), it becomes much more apparent how much of a relentless badass Shulk is, holy crap.
  • Shulk in Smash: Let's all have a good time and have fun. Shulk in Xenoblade Chronicles: I'M GOING TO KILL YOU! Shulk in XC2: Um where am I?

Shulk during cutscenes: *dodges and blocks everything and saves his party members with the Monado Shulk in gameplay: "you don't have enough party gauge, you can't tell me what to do" *entire party dies

Shulk is just a really interesting & great protagonist. Most JRPG protags seem to devolve into mary sues, and gameplay wise they are always jack-of-all-trades or frontline tanks/dps. Shulk is different. His entire kit is based around someone else having aggro, he can't utilize half of his kit if a monster is on him. He's essentially a rogue/assassin. Yeah, he has plenty of badass moments like those in the video, but those moments stand out because a lot of the time he is actually pretty vulnerable. The party is constantly saving him. Xenoblade was a very different, refreshing JRPG to play back in 2010, and Shulk was a pretty decently sized reason why.

He definitely ate a Snickers before joining Smash.
