Tekken 8 sneak in battle pass and monetization, and fighting game players are fed up

Tekken 8 charges $70 for the base game, $100 to $300 for more expensive editions, plus charges for upcoming DLC characters via season pass, plus added an in-game shop post launch, plus snuck in a surprise battle pass recently. It’s a 70$ game with free to play micro transactions. That’s modern gaming for you & it’s ridiculous.

greed, plain and simple. There's no legitimate reason for a $70 game to ask for anything past the opening price except for a full expansion

My Steam review got banned cuz I said "Why to buy fighting game at day 1 when they give everything away after 1 year at same price with all DLC"

Gaming companies are greedy af. They are drooling about how much money some f2p games get. Yet they want the f2p monitization, but with a full game price. Pls everybody don't let them gaslight you like they did with the 70 dollar price.

What's crazy is how Arrowhead who is running a live service with more going on in it has a better monetization plan. Heck they are releasing a third battle pass next week and this is the third pass I'm paying zero dollars for but still getting it. Tekken on the other hand Ive put down because of these microtransactions. Its a shame that Harada doesn't see the issue with this especially since he was there hearing Lariens speech at the Gaming Conference about greedy companies. In one ear out the other I guess.

Cost of development wouldn't be so high if the suits would stop giving themselves bonuses so high I could buy a house, pay off my car, get a bachelor's degree and not have to work a full time job through the whole process.

This is the type of behavior that makes players hesitant on newer games. There's no trust & transparency. No wonder why I see more and more people playing older games. They were from a time when these egregious practices didn't exist.

I think why people are more understanding with SF6 is because the battle pass only has avatar cosmetics. Meanwhile Tekken had amazing customisation in Tekken 7, but they dialed that back to then sell the customisable items through the battle pass and store. That's the scummiest part of all of this. It's straight up EA business practices

12 bucks for a fatality? For a single animation? Goddamn, these "micro" transactions seem pretty fucking macro lately. Also, these collector's editions are getting absolutely wild. Three hundred dollars... I mean, sure, you get a statue and costumes for everyone and some other shit but then to put microtransactions on it, too? It's just obscene.

Never in my life did I expected Tekken to have a damn battle plass. Been playing since I was 5 yrs old with my ps1.
