Everything was disassembled. Metal pieces were soaked in a 1:1 bath of simple green & water to remove grease and dirt. Then the metal pieces were derusted in Evaporust. After a rinse in water, the pieces received some WD40 and oil to displace water and lubricate moving parts. The metal was primed with self etching primer and then received a few coats of paint and topcoat.
The wood pieces were lightly scrubbed with a green Scotch Brite pad. A 1:1 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits was applied followed by beeswax.
