Building Custom Roll Pan: DIY Shrinking, Stretching, Shaping Techniques for Radial Motor Volkswagen!

Published 2024-06-13
In this episode, we create a custom-fabricated roll pan using DIY shrinking, stretching, and shaping metal techniques for the Radial Flyer Split Window Kombi Van. With the airplane motor shoehorned in the back, there isn’t enough room for stock panels. We make something that could have been stock and add our Bennett's touch. One step closer!

The Ferrari latches are cool but I think the model A style latch suits the rest of the van better.
  • @glennstatham960
Personally, I think the stock VW handle on the upper 'trunk lid' would be perfect to use on the lower trunk lid too. (the Ferrari ones are too cool though lol)

Very nice work Jordan The Model A Latch Will go better with the T handle on the back of the Van
  • @Demop_VW_garage
sweet work mate, that back part below the engine lid is called the valance ;)

Ferrari, very cool, never seen them before. Love your channel.

Tremendous outcome on your roll-pan making skills! Use the T-handle Pull, will go better with upper original latch pull. 👍

Either of your ideas for the latches would be cool, but in my opinion, nothing would beat a one off custom design in your own flavour. GL with it either way.

Was unsure how it would look, when you were talking about extra louvres in the blister, but the finished product looks bloody great!! Nice work!! :face-blue-smiling:

That was a total blowout. We can't unsee that. Great job and I like the model A latches
  • The Ford latches fit the build better but the Ferrari latches are super cool.
  • @mmccab
How about making a dedicated video, showing a slideshow of all the user submissions!?
  • A all the way. No question of what they are for. Ferrari ones look like a solution in search of a problem.
  • @shenpensenge
Excellent work! I would mount a stock VW T-style handle in the center . <3
  • Nice work Jordan! Louvers are a real nice touch, that engine is so beautiful, it’s a shame having to cover it up! Thinking the A latches would much better suit the whole theme of the build. Very nicely done mate, you should be very proud of your skills!
