360 VR! Big Creek to Johnson Creek Idaho RANS S-21

Published 2024-06-27
For the flight sim / virtual reality backcountry dreamers out there--this one's for you! Immersive scenic flight through the Salmon River / Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Or if you're planning on actually flying into Johnson Creek (3U2), this will give you a great view of the approach and landing. Even though I initially approach Johnson Creek from the north, I come up initial / upwind and turn crosswind to join a left downwind landing to the south so you'll see everything except Wapiti Meadows.

If you'd like more of this content, let me know and if it negatively affects the algorithm maybe I'll start a second channel with just this content.

Come visit The Bogey and me in the Continental Booth at EAA's Airventure 2024 in Oshkosh, WI.

It's videos like yours that keep reminding me to stay recent to enjoy this kind of stuff.

Love the 360!! That was my Red/White Kitfox on your left at the end of the runway! We walked in for breakfast as you were leaving. One hour later the winds were 17 MPH blowing down the hill. Had to taxi to the far end and take off uphill. Good times in the back country!

  • THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SO COOL!!!!!! I really enjoyed this video! Please do more.
  • Love how your vid shows the hog's back to the east of the runway on your departure. Good job.
  • Another GREAT video. 360 view kinda cool. Thank you for sharing. 👍🇨🇦👍 CYQT

Love the video. Thanks for all of your content! Very informative and appreciated. I'm doing the S21 build assist starting next May. The plane will be based out of Hailey, ID.

That was fun. Felt about as real as it can without actually being there.

Kinna makes you sick if you don’t have the technology to watch it in 360. Big fan tho!
  • So cool. Had to stand up to get the full benefits of the 360. My wife is laughing at me. This is the first I have seen this technology on YouTube. Amazing. The next thing you now there will be a man on the moon. Is there a way to mark “straight ahead “ on the video?

Beautiful flight, smooth landing! What was the high-pitched beep at 19:05 just prior to landing? I assume a sensor was telling you something about AOA or speed or ??

Thanks for the beautiful footage. Just wondering why you chose to overfly the field at Johnson Creek and then whipping a 180 to enter downwind vs. a long straight-in final that was more or less aligned with your route coming in? Terrain considerations?

hi you mentioned backcountry bogie will be on display at Oshkosh. will you be giving any presentations? like a scheduled hour or so talk? thx
  • @Phoenixx5115
Did you ever do an engine comparison video? I'm curious why you didn't go with the Rotax 915 IS (or 916) since it seems like you are planning to do a fair amount of mountain flying. My thinking (so far) is that if I'm doing a lot of mountain flying, I want the same horsepower regardless of density altitude.... but I'm open to someone changing my mind.

Steve curious about your prop pitch. Had our first flight today (S-21 trike Titan 340). 1st flight at 10 degree pitch (80) 2500 rpm 100 mph. Adjusted to 20 degrees (70) but could only get 1800 rpm so aborted that flight.
