"Sweetheart, I was only seventeen." That made me laugh and choke up at the same time. Such a great mother son moment.

Doesn't matter how famous you are. Mom is mom. I can hear Anderson's cry.

I felt that “I thought all he needed was me” at 17 😭😭
  • “She spent a lot of time alone in her head during her life, but when the end came she was not alone. She was surrounded by beauty, by family, and by friends.” As someone who has suffered a lot of traumas in my life...I honestly think this is one of the most beautiful sentences I have ever heard. May we all be so lucky❤️

Anderson cooper put this together less than 12 hours after the passing of his mom. He was able to remain professional all most to the end. She did a remarkable job with him.

Omg the last few secs of his tribute, his voice totally got choked up 😫
  • I can hear Anderson’s voice cracking in the end of the piece and it makes my eyes tear.
  • Hearing them giggle together in unison brought me to tears. Loved seeing the story of a woman who was as honest as most of us hope to be, and lived life on her own terms.
  • I love Anderson Cooper’s giggle... it makes my heart happy to know that this is the part of his mother he will always carry with him... may his mother rest in love always..

Losing a parent is the type of heartbreak that never mends. My sincere condolences to Anderson Cooper and entire family, may his mom R.I.P.

Why can't everyone have a relationship like this with their mother?

“Oh well that’s a terrible photo of him..” me showing my friends the boys I like lmao
  • @Deined
Anderson Cooper had his mom for 52 years. It's hard to ask for more than that. R.I.P., Ms. Vanderbilt.

"Sweetheart I was only 17." Rest easy, you've lived a long life Miss Vanderbilt.

Just listening to Anderson talking about his mom I could feel the LOVE they both had for each other.. And the giggling part oh my LORD brought tears to my eyes 😥

Damn, reading your own mom's tribute on the national news so soon after her passing, that's pretty brutal. Anderson Cooper has balls of steel.

The giggle 🙏😂. You have her eyes as well. She raised a beautiful man.

What a wonderful tribute to your mother, Anderson. I love when you say “she trusted too easily and completely” and “she always believed the best was yet to come.” That’s a beautiful way to be remembered. May you find peace in your memories of your mother and thank you for sharing them with us.

I watched it till the end and I cried. Thank you Anderson for sharing this story. I saw my mum last on Christmas in 2013, she died a two days later. On Christmas she was funny, gave paintings she made to her grandchildren, we sat next to each other while we ate and talked. In the evening I drove her to her home and waved her good bye. Thats the last memory of her and I treasure it to this day.
