The Other Linux for Furries...

Published 2023-04-15
Hai!~ In today's video we have a look at an operating system for furries, probably designed by furries. With a package manager powered by rust and LFS base its certainly more exotic than ufurmix and of course in true WindowsG fashion we're be installing it on something just as exotic :3
Will it work? Will it halt and catch fire? Lets find out shall we! ^w^

Thanks For Viewing!~ ❤

heya! one half of the yiffos dev team here! (the one who wrote that awful install script and owns vore microcomputers lol, the other half being my girlfriend who does all of the actual work on it) just wanted to say i loved this video! here's some answers to the questions you seemed to have: first off, the reason that linux-firmware didn't install is because `bulge gi` only installs groups, only `bulge i` would work to install a single package secondly, i'm not sure how long ago this was recorded, but there is now an iso file for yiffos that replaces the awful install image i made which fixes almost all of the issues you encountered (i.e. it has a graphical installer, automatically configures a desktop environment for you, automatically configures your network and root certs, etc.) thirdly, i am incredibly sorry for that install guide, i never finished writing it due to lack of motivation and by the time i had motivation we already had an iso installer that surpassed it lol fourthly, the reason we went uefi-only is simply because i wrote almost everything related to generating grub stuff for both the original install image and the iso, and was way too lazy to add bios support. and because of that original decision, we never really got around to it! oops i want to try to add bios support at some point, but especially now that we have an iso to worry about, it's a whole process to get working also finally, you can install gnome by running `bulge gi gnome` iirc (: i might be missing some stuff, but that covers mostly everything i wanted to mention! i'm sure my girlfriend will probably have some other things to comment on when she wakes up lol we both actually do daily drive yiffos, although our current systems are both running from installs made by the iso installer (which i would really recommend you try, as it will generate a much more functional system) it does still require uefi, but may still work with the method you used! you definitely can get a working desktop environment from the install image though! it just takes quite a bit of work (especially since the install image installs a broken dbus which requires manual repair, which i think you experienced somewhat in the video) anyways, really liked the video! always fun to see people discovering the operating system (: (edit: turns out the iso isn't public yet! oops! i'll edit this again once i can get more info on a public release)

i love how she doesn't even acknowledge the maid outfit
  • well fuck, now i have some sort of weird catgirl maid talking about linux in my subscriptions. guess it was only a matter of time.
  • Your channel is the perfect blend of doing weird stuff with outdated technology, cute stuff, and furry "references". Love it!
  • @amberisvibin

"My sister in christ, it's bad cable management" I'm going to have to steal this line lol

I came for the maid outfit, gentoo and programming socks jokes. But at first, seeing the name "WindowsG Electronics" I thought this was just a regular channel with mostly boring stuff but man was I surprised. Not only was the maid outfit incredible (not to mention who's using it🥵)- but this is really fucking fun, loved the humor and every bit of everything I saw

What? Gay and trans MJD & druaga? And I vaguely know the person from discord?

You have the best giggle/laugh. Installing Gentoo because you're bored.... I am regretting introducing you to Gentoo. The fact you read the source code to figure out the issue is terrifying. You're gonna be installing LFS for fun soon, aren't you. Also, certs and keys seem to be a more common problem then they should be. Also, love that yiffOS has a neofetch ascii logo. Also, when you view the journal, pipe it to tail. That'll show the end. Thanks for telling us about Cuberite! That's awesome!
  • @EeveeEuphoria

This is some off the wall, weird, obsolete hardware with a obscure OS installed kind of content that I find entertaining.
  • @rkivebyjuno1796
Found this channel while going down a furry linux distro rabbithole and this did not disappoint
  • @soalabe
Dont forget about the OS for bronies. Built on it's own Kernal from scratch, PonyOS is all you'll ever need :^)
