I'm taking one of my favorite Brent Mason licks and seeing it as a source of inspiration. Rather than playing his lick over and over again I can use a device called chord tone sequencing to get new ideas and help develop my own voice on the instrument. Try this with your favorite country licks or try it with any of the licks I cover in 20 Must Know Country Guitar Licks linked above

Gear:
Fender Partscaster
Lollar Pickups
Neck PU- Charlie Christian
Bridge PU- Vintage T
Strings: D'Addario 10-46

I'll be a while making this my own, but thanks for sharing it!
  • I subbed as soon as I saw that you are the most practical guitar teacher I've seen. It's like you put training wheels on the fretboard.

One of my favorite leads is the one he did on the Alan Jackson tune, “married to a waitress “.
  • @timbradley135
Did he do the solo on “Neon Moon”? Kind of an un-Brent solo. Also like the “Hot Wired” album a LOT.

So...the thing I love about Brent's playing is the runs he uses to connect the licks. Which would be a much appreciated master class! Just sayin 🤠

what if that pickup you're using?
