The most notable advantage (outside of being faster) is that if you mess up the skip, you can now attempt it again which you could not do with the old skip. With the old skip, you had to do a much slower backup and if that failed, you were pretty much screwed. This will also making practicing the skip much easier as if you mess up, you no longer have to play the level again to retry it.
This version of the strat is tricky and quite finnicky but you can definitely get it with some practice. You can scale up the door a bit more to make the Tak throw easier. I delberately made things harder for me in this video by doing the door jump setupless but you can of course set up the door jump more carefully to ensure you get it.
