Helldivers just got a patch, to fix the patch...
Here's the latest in Helldivers 2 News!
Arrowhead just pushed another large-sized patch into the game, fixing issues like the ballistic shield, spear lock-ons, recoilless rifle reloads and more! The current Major Order is looking okay, which is something I haven't been able to say in quite a while. Arrowhead Balance Dev Alexus is back and has made a statement. And finally, we have an answer to why we break sprint without running into objects...stim junkies beware!

HELLDIVERS™ 2 is a 3rd person squad-based shooter that sees the elite forces of the Helldivers battling to win an intergalactic struggle to rid the galaxy of the rising alien threats. From a 3rd person perspective, players use a variety of weapons (pistols, machine guns, flamethrowers) and stratagems (turrets, airstrikes, etc.) to shoot and kill the alien threats. Players can also aim down the sights for a more accurate 1st person camera view. Combat is accompanied by frequent sprays of blood and dismemberment as players exterminate the alien forces or players and squad mates are hit by environmental explosions or friendly fire. Enemy encampments and battlefield environments depict bloodstains and dismembered corpses.

  • Alexus saying “Our balance philosophy stays the same though” is him actually stating he still thinks he was right the whole time. That’s why it doesn’t really feel apologetic.

    Also about Alexus, him behaving like balance is now fixed is very scary to me, this patch is merely a step in the right direction, many guns still suffer greatly from either poor ammo economy or general time to kill feeling too slow to handle hordes of enemies
  • Yeah that alexus post shows he learned "just communicating better was the problem" not acknowledging he could have been wrong at all. Its the same as the "I'm sorry you feel like i wronged you"

    Alexus claims it wasn't all on him, but the balance work reflected his history with Hello Neighbor like a signature, and it took Johan coming in to make nearly a 180 away from that? I do not believe him at all. Maybe he wasn't THE decision maker, but he was definitely driving the car for a while.
  • Is nobody else getting the infinite loading screen?? Has happened to me several times now. Always on an eradication mission and when some one leaves right before we start. Super annoying

    Its crazy that they still haven't fixed the issue that bots can shoot through terrrain and structures. Bots and bugs also can walk over step rocks and buildings as if they are not there.

    I work as a software developer - and one problem you can fall into regardless of what software you are trying to make, is having an expectation of how it will be used - only to find out the users have other ideas once it is finally released. When that happens you have one of two options, look at how it is being used and adjust accordingly, or knuckledown and try to impose your will on the userbase who isn't cooperating with your vision of how the use cases should be. It's pretty clear that Alexus and the balance team were choosing the latter option until they were hemmed in - however based on his response here, it doesn't look like he's learned anything at all from the experience. You aren't going to stop people from figuring out the metas and min-maxing all sorts of stuff - there are too many variables to get rid of that. He and the balance team need to drop the Thanos attitude of "perfectly balanced as all things should be" and realize first and foremost the question they need to be answering is "are the decisions we are making making the game more fun for the people playing it?".

    I have no pity for Alexus dude just ruined a game and almost ruined this one and now tries to go to the shadow realm like a good guy.
  • Stim junky popping the new infusions with medic armor and a supply pack like a pez dispenser. The usual reply from us would be, “I enjoy the colors.” And then vanish either under a pile of bugs/bots or speeding off in search of another stim box.

    QOL suggestion: Resupply pods and emplacement HMG to show up on the map once deployed.

    When I locked onto a Shrieker Lair for the first time and destroyed each one with only one shot each it was a rush of power I never expected
  • The reason Alexus’ post rubbed me wrong - and possibly why for other people as well - was that intro paragraph. Saying it’s time to stop witch hunting them takes away from the rest of the posting (which then also contained things that read like chastising people for thinking Alexus may have been fired, saying they’re not a big voice in balance so spread the blame evenly, etc.)

    They need to fire alexus, I know for a fact the developers have seen tens of thousands of people begging for them to fire him. Please listen to us. He ruined hello neighbors and he WILL ruin and already has been ruining helldivers since day one. He will only make it worse.

    Alexus is not a person I would put front and center of a community who I am trying to rally. He seems to be anti-fun and the way he thinks is extremely against the concept of weapons being useful. I really wish this person didn’t have the input on this game that they do.

    Alexus should just stfu and never appear, dude nearly killed the game. He can deflect all he wants, but considering his history, there is no way all the shitty patches were not coming from that guy.
