  • This comment section is a true mess. Young Romanians liking pro monarch comments, Romanian boomers liking anti-communism comments. Hungarians disliking Romanians. Romanians disliking Hungarians. Non Romanian or Hungarian people making Italy jokes. Italians getting mad at Italy jokes. A true mess

I had the oportunity to meet a romanian veteran who fought at Stalingrad about 10 years ago. The poor soul still remembered in detail a lot of things about his battle and how his fellow soldiers were killed near him daily. He even still knew army songs and poems from the war. I was just a kid. That man sparked my interest in ww2 history and history in general. Was such a powerful story to hear and picture. God bless his brave soul
  • I feel sorry for Romania as just like my country (Bulgaria) they had to constantly switch sides to avoid worst case scenarios. I understand their pain as we were used as pawns by the bigger countries as well!
  • Romania always seems to get the short end of the geopolitical stick, always fought over by someother empire that doesn't represent them, and yet they maintain their own independence. Romanians are proud people for good reason because of what they've endured.
  • @TheVlp3r
the sad fate of being the small guy(s) in between great powers, Romania played this " I'm allied with one cuz the other is scarier" game for centuries, trying to survive
  • @robertpucovsky
Very interesting how tables have turned. I didn't quite know how things played there for our fellow neighbors. Hello from Serbia!
  • Romania was indeed more of a "major" nation during ww2. Being the 2rd largest army in the axis and supplying 60% of all of axis oil. Much love to Romania from France, and yes, it was larger and overall better equipped than italy. We all seen italy in ww2... Despite its good navy, The italian army wasnt as good as Romania. Much love to both nations from France.
  • So many years of history and 20 years of tv talkshows about this subject and only now i inderstand everything from a 10 mins video… Thats amazing!!! Thank you.

P.S : THE VIDEO GOT MONETIZED AFTER 1 DAY. But its start was slower because of this. Hello Guys! I had to re-upload the video because it was marked as 'demonetized' by YouTube. I spent about 100 hours researching, writing, drawing, animation for this video. And I liked it very much. I am quite satisfied with the final product. But it seems that sometimes, even if I create educational content without "forbidden words" and only with good faith and transparency, my hard work becomes worthless. Looks like this video is demonized again. I don't want to ask for anything from anyone. All I want is to be allowed to do my work without being told by an algorithm that I don't deserve to be monetized. And because of this, the video is not suggested, is not viewed and dies slowly. 100 hours, maybe, for nothing. I am not trying to play the victim here, but if YOU really love what I am doing, and if you can of course, please consider to support my long hours on my patreon : www.patreon.com/Knowledgia Anyway, Thank you so much for your time to watch my content!

  • Hungarian here. Born in Romania. I love Hungarians. And I love Romanians. End of story.
  • Respect, Knowledgia!!! I find your description of those cloudy days, the most accurate. Thank you for taking the time to search and explain the ww2 faith of my beloved Romania.
  • You never mentioned the promises Britain made to Romania but betrayed them for Greece at the peace conference
  • @germanhess9995
Greetings from Latin America to the Romanian people , in 7 years I will be living in Iasi after my retirement.

My great grandfather was one of the POWs taken to the Soviet gulags, he was tortured and overworked as you'd expect but managed to escape and walk all the way back home to Romania on foot. Basically, if he hadn't been the badass he was, I wouldn't have been alive right now, what a chad.
  • @diana.bacircea
All these years of war, and our map ends up looking like a fish:)))
  • @Armageddon2077
Short answer: They thought they could pull off the same thing that Finland and Greece would go on to succeed in doing.
  • @JFairhart
The classic situation of damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
  • I am a roumanian too and i had a grand-grandfather Who was a sergeant in World War 2 and won a lot of medals. Unfortunately, during a battle, a grenade landed and exploded near him and he lost his fingers from one arm, but he survived The war

So actually Romania didn't want to be on Germany side in the first half, but Hitler wanted to give Transilvanya as a blackmail. Romania didn't want to lose Transilvanya, so they needed to fight not to lose Transilvanya.
