Weirdly, out of all of the pre-hardmode bosses; I had the worst time dealing with Eater. Desert Scourge was only rough because I tried fighting it in a way that gave it the advantage, at the start of the game when I had no mobility.

Funnily enough, if I were playing vanilla.. I would probably still be digging around the map looking for chests, or perhaps if I had beaten all the bosses, would still be doing setup for hardmode (since doing anything in hardmode sucks thanks to the harder to deal with mobs that interrupt you every few seconds.)
