I worked for Mel and her colleagues for more than a few years and she was always as charming, well mannered and articulate as she is in this interview. She became very knowledgeable about the technical side of staging concerts and it was often her role to oversee many aspects regarding musician, technical and crew related issues. She did this very well and was incredibly loyal to her team. Much respect. I wish her well. 😊

Give that audio engineer a raise. He did an awesome job.

Incredible interview! As a Spice Girls fan, hearing the things that were shared in this interview was particularly shocking, because I always thought Mel C was the most level-headed, in control, balanced, and overall just the most normal of all the girls, like the one who hyped the other girls up when they needed a cheerleader, always having a great time, brushing negativity off with ease, and overall the most positive and happy! Comes to show you, you never really know what is going on inside someone's head nor their personal battles. If you read this Mel, thank you for your courage and strength to participate in this eye-opening interview! Viva forever!❤️🙏💯🙌

She talks about her younger child self with so much compassion. That’s a lot of healing work. Really beautiful

Hats off to the audio engineer who managed to get Mel's audio to be that good from a camera mic across the room! So pleased we get to hear what she said.
  • Really sorry about the audio in this one, an incident that was out of our control meant a hard drive has gone. We’ve taken many, many, many measure’s to ensure this NEVER ever happens again. I’m asking you for a favour on this one, please stick with us as we believe the conversation is worth it. Appreciate you all x

I could listen to Mel C for hours. Her face is so expressive, such a genuine , authentic woman. Steven is just the perfect interviewer for her.
  • For those wondering what does the chinese characters tatoo on Mel mean: “女力” pronounced “nu li “ and it means girl power, female strength in Chinese 😊
  • I’m speechless. The audio is actually pretty flipping fantastic. Thankyou for working so hard to honour Mel’s story ❤

The audio didn’t detract from this brilliant story. She is lovely . I can relate to her so much . Well done Mel for allowing us all in . ❤
  • This is a masterclass from Stephen about how to conduct an interview. Much respect to Mel C…how skilfully she articulates her own story. I love Stephen’s podcasts, they are a life lesson in how to better understand others, which is as important today as it has ever been.

That young girl who went into robot mode was just doing what she thought would protect her. Dont apologise to her Mel. Its how your brain works, its survival . You actually saved her.
  • Another fantastic interview, as a 56 year old man and not a huge fan of the Spice Girls I did not think there would be much to relate to. How very wrong I was, there was so much that resonated with my own life and my own feelings that I ended up watching the whole interview. Thank you Melanie for sharing, I look forward to listening to your audiobook. You are not alone. ❤

Mel C is so relatable. I totally get her being like a robot to get through difficult/incredible times. I have profound respect and love for this woman.

Excellent interview. My daughters were Spice Girl fans and as their father I was aware that at the time there were few women role models for them. Mel C was my youngest daughter's favorite because she was a bit of a tomboy and found "sporty spice" relatable. I remember my daughters dancing in the living room to their songs or singing along in their rooms. I am grateful to the Spice Girls and "Sporty Spice" for giving my daughters that joy & fun at that time in their pre-teen years. I am impressed with how real Mel C is in this interview. This interview has the relaxed feel of two neighbors having a morning coffee and a chat. (sound engineer - WOW).

The way she talks about her mindset while she was dealing with her ED was described so well. I've never heard anyone put it quite like that. And how she describes discovering that her mental illness has a name and treatment options... and that there is a world outside of it. It all nearly brought me to tears. It is so important to share our experiences and I so appreciate that she is sharing hers.
  • The interview was incredible and I very quickly forgot about the sound. Your apology was heartfelt and understood. Mel C was so vulnerable. Thank you. Ludwina xxx
  • I adore her! She is so warm and so eloquently spoken. No wonder she was so loved and close to each of the SGs even after the break up. Her openness is inspiring and relatable. First time watching this podcast, he’s fabulous!

I hurt for Mel's younger years; she's defending her parents, but in fact, they abandoned her in their way, and as parents, this is really not kind. I truly am amazed at Mel's outlook on life. I wish her health and love in abundance.

I have never had any interest in the Spice Girls or popular music in general. However, I think this lady is astonishingly honest and remarkably intelligent. The wisdom she has gained through processing her own experience is truly remarkable and inspirational. I'm now officially a big Mel C fan!
