Big Alaska Bull Moose Fighting -Start to Finish!
Left Hook finally returned to the valley and planted himself in 22's territory. We could see 22 a half mile away, bedded. He got up and started his slow/deliberate walk, grunting the whole way, audible across the valley despite the raging creek waters. He turned and headed up toward us, we knew Left Hook was somewhere in the hemlocks after a cow, but were waiting in a clearing in case he came out again. 22 started wagging from downhill, and then from the hemlocks came Left Hook, also wagging. Left Hook stopped to rake, and we knew this could erupt.

After jockeying for (SAFE) positioning, we were able to capture this amazing footage from two slightly different angles. It's the kind of thing one tends to watch a few times to appreciate the power and nuances as these massive animals go at it. The fur does fly. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching our channel, we are the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire wildlife photographers (and part time Alaska.) It is our passion to document wildlife of any kind, but moose are definitely at the top. In New Hampshire we spend a lot of our spring/summer hours in kayaks photographing loons and moose in the waters of New Hampshire. And hike many miles in Alaska seeking all manner of wildlife in the fall.

  • AND IN THIS CORNER!.....now that's a heavyweight fight!!! Outstanding...Thanks for sharing!

My goodness, those antlers are massive. Majestic animals

The beginning was like an old western when they are walking out to the main getting ready. Very cool.
  • I know it's crazy... I just can't believe both aren't missing their eyeballs 20 seconds into the fight!

Being from Newfoundland we're no strangers to moose but those Alaskan/Yukon moose are on another level. Just look at the size of those racks!! Actual giants lol. Incredible footage and scenery man, I could watch this stuff for hours.
  • What's incredible is that they so carefully choreographed their fight, and splined their massive and lethal antlers in such a way as neither of them drew blood on the other in spite of the fact each appeared to weigh in at close to a ton each!

Magnificent capture and filming. The one on the left was bigger and used his strength. Explains why Grizzlies want nothing to do with them.
  • Pretty gentlemanly contest. No cheap shots or attempts to actually hurt each other... just who's the strongest (and most persistent) in head on clashes.

Alaskan Moose are legit some of the biggest animals in North America. They are massive. Way bigger than the moose down here in the Rockies.

I've read that given the amount of energy it takes for these big boys to fight and the serious damage they can do to each other, such fights are usually over pretty quickly with one bowing out rather than taking it to an extreme. Usually no one is badly hurt. This proves the theory. Aren't they absolutely magnificent?
