I've been singing since I was 15. I'm 30 now. I never knew I could sing. One day, randomly my pastor from church said "Here are some instrumental tracks, practice the lyrics, God told me you can sing." I was SUPER confused, as I have never sang a day in my life, especially not on a microphone. šŸ˜… Sure enough, God placed the talent in me, and no one ever told me I had to warm up or cool down my voice before singing. Today in 15 yrs experience singing, this is the first time I've started doing vocal exercises daily. (since 1 week ago) Tomorrow I'm auditioning to once again be on my church's worship team (new church) and I feel ready. Thank you Jesus for this lady on this channel who has helped me learn so much more about singing. ā¤ (new to this channel and loyal to only this one from now on for my daily vocal exercises) God bless you Ms. SINGEO. (šŸ˜¢ What's your name Ms.?)
  • I like the way Sarah McLachlanā€™s voice flips. Joni Mitchell is a master. I think itā€™s a technique the use with great effect. But I can also see it sounding awkward if itā€™s weak and unintentional. Love your videos!
  • I am definitely ā€œthe yellerā€ but turn into ā€œthe choir singerā€ and ā€œthe flipperā€ when I try to sing songs as ā€œthe blenderā€. So helpful! Thank you šŸ˜Š

I've been a chest puller for a long time. A few years ago, I started working on relaxing on the higher notes and it has really helped. While still not a master blender (sounds like an appliance) I've improved to where my tone at least sounds consistent throughout my range. Always a work in progress!
  • Been singing since I was 11. Iā€™m 45, almost 46, and am DEFINITELY a blender. I have had some great experiences singing with many artists. I love to sing!
  • I was too shy and skipped out on chorus classes when I was in school, but you really make me want to start singing and get to know my voice! I love your energy. Instant sub here. Right now my baby boy is my biggest fan lol seems to like me singing him to sleep just fine.
  • @lazaruslazzie2719
I have trained for 12 years now and I have reached all these types of voice types but didn't know how to explain it. Thank you for the pure and real explanation. I appreciate you.
  • You blew my mind at the end when you talked about how what you're working on is a moving target. I've been confused why, as I gain more singing experience, some days I feel totally coordinated and relaxed and in the same week I'll have days where I struggle with my chest voice and others where I struggle with my head voice. Thank you for letting me know that that's normal šŸ˜‚

I love that she didn't just give one exercise for all voices but different types for different voices... Subscribing asap
  • Hello, I am 75 years old and Iā€™ve been singing since I was alive. I taught voice for 45 years and I am now retired but still play with my little band. I just want to say I have enjoyed your vocal coaching. You have such a lovely positive attitude about The Voice. I especially enjoyed your video about the four types the flipper, the blender, the choir singer and the chest or yeller what a lovely positive way to lead us into knowing our entire voice thank you and good luck with your career and your YouTube channel.
  • @user-dx9cp4yz5q
I have been a voice teacher for over 25 years and youtube probably knows because it suggested your video to me: you summed this up really well, and the visual is really classy. Keep it up!
  • I am definitely a flipper! Iā€™ve always struggled with belting and putting power behind my notes in a way thatā€™s on key, though! I think part of it came from a lack of confidence. These are great tips and instructions! So glad that I found this! Thank you! šŸ’™
  • This is very detailed and youā€™re spot on with all of this. I really appreciate how you describe the way everything feels. That, to me, is the most important part. If I can sound right, but donā€™t feel the right sensations, then somethingā€™s off. Compensatory muscles can be a huge issue, and even worse when you donā€™t know they shouldnā€™t be the ones working... Painful stuff thatā€™s best to be avoided with proper practice.. and knowledge about them. Needless to say, I messed up and gained a lot of neck tension that Iā€™m still working on
  • I'm not in anyway a singer but there are times when I believe that feelings of emotion (being moved/innerspirit ), genuines ( to the songs story) and commitment to give everything you got too harmony is the best way of achieving incredible sound quality. I have enjoyed humming in every register I can. YouTube is a great source of education, so thank you.
  • Thank you. I have a starting point now. Started karaoke a year ago and now have around 200 songs I like to sing (none of them in the modern era) - a blender/touch of flipper. It's like you have the vitality of a 1950s performer and the technical brilliance of someone in the 40's (2040's) - refreshing.
  • Ive watched so many "what type of singer" "what type of voice are you" videos and none of them seemed to address what my problems are but THIS helped me identify that i am a flipper. Looking forward to implementing the exercises and improving.
