  • Thanks for the incredibly cool responses, everyone. So happy this tune lives on 25 years after I made it. Much appreciated and much love.

Back when this Game came out, my Father decided to buy our first PC. Unbeknownst to him he bought one the most expensive Gaming PC´s available which came with a bunch of Accessories and Games, including UT99. So as a 7-year old boy, i installed it and got immediately hooked. Every Time my parents were away, I would end up playing Facing Worlds, standing on top of one of the Towers and Sniping the shit out of the enemy Bots, chaning Monsterkills in the process. This ended a couple of months later, when one evening - i was playing UT way past my bedtime - my parents came home from a party, only for them to hear in shock M-M-Monsterkill or the anguish Screams of dying Bots and dismemberment sounds coming from the PC Speakers. This Game has a special place in my Heart...
  • One of the best introductions to the DnB genre of all time. This track is responsible for making a whole generation of gamers fall in love with Drum and Bass without even knowing it.

One of the best, if not THE BEST, game tracks ever! I'm 38 now and still play Unreal Tournament (1999), now with my daughter. Such nostalgia! This is one of the tracks that really got me into D&B as a kid. God bless!

Many wars were fought on this battlefield...

I started my UT journey when I was entering high school. The fast paced action combined with the soundtrack sold it for me. 35 now and still listening to this, two decades later. It also introduced me to DnB and have always listened to the soundtrack during the various stages of my life. This game has been very iconic and unforgettable to me. M-M-MONSTER KILL!

When you can play a song on repeat for an hour and be still want more you know you've hit gold

I used to play UT99 as a kid, and it's incredible how your childhood experiences seem to hardwire your brain to certain things. Every time I listen to this style of music I get really nostalgic. Recently I decided to search for some of the games I played as a kid and it all makes sense, as they were an integral part of my upbringing and many things I appreciate today date back to those experiences. I'm still trying to find all the maps I used to play, I'm not sure if they were mods or not. Either way, what a game!

The essence of atmospheric (or intelligent) drum&bass as it was known back then. People interested in this kind of sound may want to check the music by the label Good Looking Records: LTJ Bukem, Artemis, Tayla, PFM, Makoto, Seba ... Of course, those who know what I'm talking about are probably familiar with the stuff already.

I'd spend a lot of time just flying the redeemer around, admiring the stars.

Before I got a dial-up connection, I would play vs the bots, and I would lose hours just admiring the level :') and listening to this song before starting the match.

This proves that a great soundtrack can define a games legacy for years. GG.
  • When I was 4-5 years old and played this offline, i thought one day it would be possible to jump on the earth and explore it in game

I played this game pretty heavily in the 2000's. Absolutely love UT99 as an arena style FPS, and the music just makes the awesome package more complete. Legendary.
  • its 2023 and I'm still listening to old game soundtracks such as this one ... nostalgia at its finest
  • @drhank33y
"I'm hit! I'm hit! - MAAAN DOWN! - Burn baby" .. ahh the sounds of UT99
