Melanie Martinez's PORTALS Perfume is A Mess...

The original crybaby perfume was an actual art piece. You could see the love that went into the packaging and perfume itself. It smelled exactly what I thought crybaby would smell like. This on the other hand looks like a cash grab with no thought put into it

the crybaby perfume was not only cheaper but smelled SO much better , and the bottle was a baby bottle. the bottle was SUPER cute and vintage. the portals one seriously does look like those juices with the little plastic head cartoons on 😭

I’m a hardcore Melanie fan and cannot defend that price

A little mushroom or butterfly perfume bottle would have looked so cute and fit with the theme of the Portals Album! But, what we got, really does look like those juice bottles 💀.

The price isn’t the issue for me. My problem is with the tiny product amount and the quality.

I get that she needs the money, but putting a price of 250-300 bucks for a plastic statue that looks like it was 3d printed with 4 tiny perfume bottles doesn’t seem worth it to me. Plus, the way the Melanie fans are desperately defending her, saying you’re paying more for the statue, so it’s reasonable. The thing is, we didn’t ask for a 1 foot plastic statue that looks like a happy meal toy. We just wanted another perfume

UPDATE: MEL RELEASED THE PERFUMES INDIVIDUALLY! Mel released the individual perfumes, or rather, parfums, and, as someone who hasn't bought them, they seem to be the exact same. I see no difference in the packaging accept for the statue being gone, and- get this- THEY ARE 50$ EACH 50$ FOR 15 ML FOR 0.5 OZ THAT IS A DOLLOR FOR EVERY O.3 ML OF LIQUID Mel, I love you, but jesus. 50 dollars? For reference, Ariana Grande's thank u next perfume was 45$ for 1 ounce. That is 5$ less for DOUBLE THE PARFUME. (before anyone says anything, I looked it up and parfums and perfumes have no difference. Eu de parfum has less scent than a perfume, but in general, parfums and perfumes are the same)

I have worked in a beauty company and making perfume is insanely cheap

Just gonna say this as a MASSIVE crybaby, as much as I love the idea I just can’t trust it. I have the original perfume from the first tour and I still have some perfume. The formula just isn’t strong so it doesn’t last long. I double checked recently with my roommate and he said he couldn’t tell I had perfume on unless his nose was against me. So at those prices it’s just simply not worth it even if I felt I NEEDED that art piece. Edit: problem isn’t that it is subtle but that it dissipates very quickly compared to most perfumes in my experiences. Almost non existent, might just be my batch though. That said at 40$ I am not mad, I would be at those prices though

I bought my mom a Gucci perfume last year and it was way way cheaper (and also I guess more into it) Why is it so expensive 😅

I like her music but she charged way too much for that cheap looking perfume. Also chatging loads of money for VIP and not even meeting fans just using a CGI version of herself is terrible. That perfume and meet and greet were such cash grabs and scams for real.

This era is supposed to be magical and I wish the quality would have more love put into it, I have the vinyl and it’s beautiful and I was planning to get the new perfume even though it looked weird but people are reselling it for 2,000 bucks already and it’s already almost 300 bucks, just wish there was just more because she obviously made it expensive because she knew it’d sell out quickly but just MAKE MORE! Like I love you Melanie but you’re a celeb you could totally just have thousands of them in stock, when the portals perfume comes back in I’ll try to get it for myself because even if it looks wonky and overpriced I personally would like to see it for myself because I love the portals era so much and I’ll be so damn upset if I see it go to waste, I’d like the cry baby perfume too because who dosent, but the portals one looks kind of cute, I just wish the details were more put in or stuff added on the bottle for the price but I’ll come back to this comment If and when I get it and review it

Since she’s now selling the scents separately I feel like it would’ve been cooler if the packaging represented the element and the object that represents it, for example: for water to could be the cup with glowing liquid, you get the idea. It could’ve also been the egg we see Melanie hatch out of when she revealed her new form yk.
