  • United 93 was the first, and possibly only, movie I saw in theaters where no one made a sound. No talking, phones, shuffling, etc. At the end everyone just quietly got up and left-- I'll never forget it. I was also working on 9/11 and we were all just huddled around the TV watching in disbelief. It's hard to explain what that day felt like to anyone who didn't live through it. But that movie is definitely moving. ❤️

The Dead Zone doesn't get talked about enough when it comes to S. King adaptations. I think Thinner and The Dark Half are underrated. American Werewolf and Dog Soldiers are two of my favorite werewolf movies as well. Lon Cheney's The Wolfman is great but I think Hammer's The Curse of the Werewolf is pretty darn good too.
  • Thanks for the video, dude! I appreciate it so much! To answer a few of your questions, too… For me, my all-time favorite novel is honestly The Stand by Stephen King. In my eyes, it is the ultimate story of good v evil in an apocalyptic setting that is so much more believable than anything I’ve ever come across in film or literature. That book and the intertwined stories in it will be a huge part of me forever. Speaking of, to answer your question about favorite adapted movie from King, I would honestly have to say 1408. I know that’s an unusual one, but the atmosphere in that movie is tremendous and it always scared the hell out of me. It’s also one I found way better than the story King wrote, which is rare. Of course The Shining is phenomenal, as well, but it was not particularly true to the novel, and, as excellent a job as Kubrick did in making it his own, I still felt like it fell short of the novel’s quality. But that was a hard book to really adapt well and I don’t think anyone could’ve done it better. And, just as a quick afterthought, there are a few King novels that were puzzlingly overlooked or underrated and I couldn’t recommend them enough: Thinner, Joyland, Later, Elevation, and Cujo. Cujo is a story that gets talked about a lot, but it’s not particularly well-received critically and isn’t generally considered anywhere near the top of his list in terms of novel quality. But I loved it. It’s interesting that you mention that about your friend in fantasy who is 28 and doesn’t remember 9/11. I’m actually 29, born in ‘93, and I feel like that is a pretty common statement for people my age to say. That they either don’t remember where they were or the significance at the time, or have no recollection at all. Not me, though. I was in third grade, but I remember that day like maybe no other in my life. I’ve always been a very neurotic and anxious person, and as a kid, it scared the hell out of me. I’ve been fascinated by it ever since. Just such an unimaginable tragedy to an extent that I hope no future generations of people will have to endure. But the film is really quite well-done: Very difficult and emotional, but also a great way to remember the heroism of the people on that flight. There have been a lot of 9/11 movies made over the years, but I always found that one to be the most powerful. A little background: I had NO IDEA that Jekyll and Hyde movie existed either lmao. I was in my nearby Dollar Tree one day to grab a couple small things. The one in my town is one that never has anything for physical media, at least for the few times I’ve been in there. That day, they had this massive selection. It was all obscure titles I knew nothing about and it was almost entirely Western or Dramas that didn’t interest me. Then I saw that and figured I’d give it a chance. Shamefully, I never ended up watching it lol. I was going to before I sent it out to you but I just never was in the mood and figured you’d put it to better and quicker use then me anyway! I’m glad the book interested you and that you didn’t have it! Such a classic story and the writing really is excellent. I apologize again for it being a little dinged up on the outside. I hope you enjoy it, man! Thanks again for being such a great, consistent YouTuber and friend over the years. I’ll always come back to your page regularly for as long as you do this. And I really do respectfully your dedication to cinema and the community for as long as you have!

I've seen the theatrical cut of Dark City. Haven't seen Descent. I own United 93 and I watch it annually on September, 11 along with Flight 93 (which was made for television) and World Trade Center. I have not seen Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. As for Stephen King movies, I've seen the original Carrie, the 2012 remake, all the Pet Sematary movies including the one with Eddie Furlong, the IT movies except for the Tim Curry film, The Mist, Doctor Sleep, The Green Mile, and I saw Salem's Lot both the movie and the 2004 miniseries last year right before going on a trip/cruise to Alaska & Canada. I still need to see Shawshank Redemption, which is yet another classic I still haven't seen. As for the final destination movies, I've seen the first four. It seems they're declining in quality over time. I don't understand why they have to turn everything into a damn franchise. In fact, I made up a couple words for this, "Fastify" or "Sawify" lol. And, I haven't seen Rosemary's baby.
