McCain and Obama represent an era where American politicians could disagree and yet have mutual respect
  • "We are Americans first, Americans last, Americans always. Let us argue our differences. But remember we are not enemies." Spoken by John McCain at 2004 Republican National Convention. A man of wisdom and integrity. RIP John McCain

Senator McCain asking him to speak at his funeral shows how much respect him and President Obama had for eachother. An amazing speech.
  • When I heard McCain tell that lady, no no, Barack is a good man, THATS WHEN I CAME TO TEARS!
  • I can barely recognize what our beautiful country has become. A time when compromise wasn’t a dirty word.

John McCain knew his eulogy would be spot on by the smartest person in DC. He knew it would be sincere.

Love or hate him Obama is one of the smartest presidents to ever live. This man's level of intelligence level is beyond measure. His father probably regretted the fact that he was not present in his son's life, but he created a masterpiece human being.

He made Cindy smile at one of the most difficult events in her life. 👍

That Barack Obama can find the words to make a grieving widow and son laugh just proves how precious and thoughtful he is.

Beautiful speech. I'm a hardcore Republican, but this was an honor second to none. Obama speaks so eloquently and concisely. Much respect to him and RIP John McCain.
  • For a man to ask another man to speak at his funeral, that is the utmost of respect!
  • This guy is a thousand times better an orator than anyone in politics today
  • Ladies and gentlemen! This is a real Republican! Who ran against President Obama and lost! Who differed in thought! Yet still respected him and ASKED him to speak of him! He trusted him! This is how a real man behaves. With dignity and self respect. Honorable and respectful even in defeat. Because he understood that an America united, is better than half of America and divided.
  • This eulogy truly feels like it came from a different and better age.
  • This is how a real President acts like dignity and respect… I could listen to him all day…. Damn I miss him

All Americans need to listen to this speech and think about the words that are spoken.
  • I come back to watch this eulogy periodically to remind myself that once upon a time, Democrats and Republicans could agree on one thing if no other: they loved our country and wanted to preserve our Democracy. In his extraordinarily graceful eulogy, Barack Obama demonstrates what it means to respect and admire a political opponent while at the same time disagreeing with him. I'm a lifelong Democrat, but I am very sorry there are no John McCains left among us. He was a tower of decency whose like, I fear, we will not see again.
  • Regardless of politics, Obama nailed this speech with respect, dignity and a depth of human compassion that is rarely found.
  • Never forget that McCain was the deciding vote in whether or not they would repeal Obamacare. And he voted not in favor of repealing, only one of three republicans to do so. When asked why he didn't vote yes with the other republican part members, McCain said "I don't work for the Republican Party. I work for the people of Arizona and the people of America, and taking away health coverage for 600,00 people would not be helping them." We need more John McCain's and Obama's in politics.

A time when you could disagree yet still respect each other.
