This video diary details my treatment of precancerous areas of my face that have Actinic keratosis or AK. The treatment used a chemotherapy cream of Fluorouracil and Calcipotriene to treat my Actinic Keratosis (AK)s. It was applied to my face over a 5 day period. The video shows the effects of the treatment prior, during and months after the end of the treatment. Anyone who is considering this treatment would benefit from watching the video to understand how the treatment will affect them. This video can be compared to my prior video diary that shows how this treatment differs from only using Fluorouracil for AK treatment.

This is the MOST mild reaction to this treatment I have seen, and I’ve scoured the internet. My own experience was awful. Face turned fire engine red in just a few days. Basically my entire face sloughed off over the next three weeks and the entire time I experienced the pain of severe burns. All this to try and prevent something that may not ever happen. I’ll never do this again. Just one man’s experience.

Thank you so much for showing this sequence of events for Fluorouracil and Calcipotriene, as well as the original Fluorouracil Treatment 7 years ago. These are the only two sources that have given me a clear vision of what it is like. By the way, did your Dermatologist ever suggest Klisyri? Klisyri may be my choice, but I don't know which way to go yet.

This was so helpful and gave me the confidence to give it a try. On day 3 of 5 and going well so far. Thanks again.

Thank you for posting this. I am on Day 6 of this combo. For reasons I can't figure out, my dermatologist would not prescribe me the calcipotriene. However I was able to get a tube from Mexico (imuchas gracias Mexico!). So I've been on my own with a time frame. I've done copious amounts of research and have decided to stick it out for 7 days, although my nose and chin area are painful (stopped chin Day 5 and use Vaseline on nose creases since Day 2 or 3). My plan for recovery is to stop using soap (after washing it all off), cover my face in CBD coconut oil, UNpetroleum Jelly, and carrot seed oil. One more day! 🙏

I live in Australia. We use two creams and we do not mix them together. Efudix (the original ) and Daivobet (brand name.) I completed my treatment on the front part of my head and forehead for five days. It became a little painful about 2 days after completion and the pain lased about 4-5 days. I used a moisturiser on my head and face 2-3 times a day for about a fortnight. Excellent results. Far less side effects than the straight Efudix.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your generous, detailed sharing and your calm, logical approach. I'm about to start a 10 day, 2ce per day, course with FU 5 with Calcipotriene, on a spot on my leg. Your presentation boosted my confidence level and gave me a sense of connection with you and others who are on the FU5 with C path. May your healing be complete and lasting! May everyone who reads this become cancer free if they are not already!

Thank you for this video! I will show it to my dermatologist. As a sales rep, I can't fathom calling on stores using the other method, nor would I ever have enough downtime to stay at home to do it. Thanks for your thorough documented journey for both videos.

Hi there and thanks for posting the video of your progress. My dermatologist suggested a 5-7 day based on my tolerance and I did 6 full days last January and the results were incredible. Skin is clear and smooth and I decided to do another 6 day treatment which I have just completed. Same type scenario as last year with the reaction and I expect great results again. One thing I noticed was the compound medications (same as yours) does not seem to do much on other areas such as the hands and arms. (doc said I could do those as well)... I think because the skin is different in those areas (thicker perhaps) it may require a longer application period. Any success with yours other than the face?

Thank you for making this video. Very helpful! How did you mix the 2 creams together? Or did you apply one on top of the other? Thank you! Best, Ron

I just finished this treatment on both arms from wrist to just below my shoulders and only see 2 small pink patches in one area in one arm. I have no idea why my doc thought this was necessary for both arms at this stage in my life.
  • Thanks for putting this video up. I'm going to start this treatment in the next couple days, I've been putting it off since last Fall. My doctor wants me to apply twice daily for 7 days and I'm going to do as he asked but I have a question. How the heck did you shave?!

Thank you for this information, very helpful. I completed a 5 day Klisyri treatment on my AKs and it knocked them down for over a year, but the 2 problem areas slowly came back. I was planning on the 5FU cream as my next line of defense, but as a working professional a 5 day treatment is a more realistic approach. Any other tips or suggestions are welcome.

It seems as if your reaction using both Fluorouracil and Calcipotriene was much more subdued compared to your other treatment video. Do you attribute this to just having overall less AK's? And with that said, what made you go through this treatment again? Does your derm recommend you treat AK's on a regular cadence? Thanks in advance.
