‘No one wants to see an old man crying’. Wrong! We respect that! How uplifting to see that we share the pain and beauty of life together!

Ren was signed to a major label. A week later he got super sick and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and was treated for it. The treatment was torture for TEN YEARS.. it made his sicker and with that pain, the psychosis set in.. more meds... A cycle that would only be stopped when he was referred to another doctor and was told he had late stage lyme disease and the previous diagnosis was not right. Ren is healing and his ten year torture only served to make him strong and through his pain and suffering has written many great songs. He is totally independent now and wants to stay that way. This video cost him a grand to make. <3 He is a genius and a real musician. Thanks for giving him a shot! LOVE REN! XOXOX

14 years of not crying. My parents would beat me so much that I lost that special human ability to cry. When I was adopted, I blocked out all of that and forgot it all like it never happened. After being shown this song at work, a flip of a switch inside my head opened up all those memories. I was so scared I hid in the corner crying, and my boss and friends tried getting me out. An ambulance took me to the hospital. I'm stuck with these memories of being dragged out of bed at night to be beaten because they were bored. Having a knife on my neck because they were high or drunk. Being hit with a bat on my back. Putting my head underwater in the bathtub for a laugh while I fight for air. Having one of their friends do stuff to me for drugs. Having a dog growl at me trying to bite. Being forced to do drugs and drink alcohol. Being forced to hold my pee so they can laugh when i wet my pants. Pushed against the walls and ground for amusement. And so much more. What I would do was hide in a corner holding in my tears and holding my hands against my mouth so I wouldn't make any noise and get caught. A memory was when I was taken from the house the cop carrying me was crying and in the ambulance the emt started crying I went to sleep after or i guess passed out. The scars my adopted parents told me they were from accidents from riding my bike and falling off trees when i was a kid. I truly believed they were my actual parents when i was a kid and believed it all, and to me, they are my parents. I start work again in a week. I'm so glad they are so supportive. Listening to this song again from other perspectives shines a light on who I am now. My friends and family who loves me just makes me happy cry, and I'm just so happy. Those memories might be with me, but this song just makes me happy, sad, and full of hope. I love my family and friends. Without their support I would've totally lost it and those memories would've been the end of me. This is a powerful song.
  • Ren has given this 60 year old bloke faith in something id given up on. A new artist who actually gives chills, excitement, naturally talented, emotionally open, just raw catchy art. Wishing Ren all the best while he's in hospital.

What I love about the reactions are that many of them come from men and women, like me, in our later years. I also have the added deep pleasure and pride in being Ren's dad. Thanks guys, lovely work and authenticity
  • Ren was diagnosed at 17 as bipolar and after 5 years they realised that he was suffering the effects of Lyme Disease, they'd misdiagnosed him and needlessly medicated him (watch "sick boi") ... 5 years later hes had Stem replacement therapy and is currently in Canada recieving further treatments and minor surgeries which his fans helped fundraise for... Hes over there for 3 to 6 months...

Brian do NOT be ashamed for crying! Shows you’re human. Makes viewers connect and love what you and Cedric do! 🖤💪🏽🤙🏽
  • @changinlooks1
43 year old with several auto immune diseases. This kid is truly a voice for some seriously broken and complicated souls! He’s an amazing human!
  • @soundssimple1
This is how powerful music should be. One vocal, one acoustic guitar and something to say. This puts to shame 99.9% of the crud that is released nowadays. Get well soon Ren.
  • Don't hide the tears. I've heard this song a few hundred times now, and I still can't make it through without choking up. This song is a release. A powerful release.
  • @LadyHarlowe
The lights flicker (are unsteady) when the dark side of REN is talking. The lights are steady when the light side is talking. Lots of symbolism here. Phenomenal.
  • Overnight, it's become obvious to me that Ren is one of the most vital voices in contemporary art. This is a watershed moment.
  • @user-cj9cl2op4e
You’ve got to kill you if you want to kill me. 😢 that line cuts to the bone. Such a clever, beautifully dark and light. Stunning I’m speechless.
  • @maddielkaye
I’m a 23 year old artist who manages complex ptsd, major depressive disorder, borderline, and several autoimmune diseases. Hi Ren didn’t just hit close to home for me. He summed up my purpose here on earth, which is the same as his. Beautiful soul. So grateful for his art. And this reaction! It’s lovely to see so many people of different ages and backgrounds be so positively affected. Much love! 😌
  • You say “no one wants to see an old man cry” but remember the people come for raw reactions. Have no shame in your emotions
  • @JennyAnton
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole. You have a hell of a journey ahead of you. Enjoy! PS It was live and one take.
  • As I lay in my own hospital room just as I came back from yet another procedure also in a foreign country , this hit me so hard, but at the same time, it gave me some peace. Peace and joy to all.
