Ikaria, the island where people live longer than just about anywhere else in the world. Greece’s beautiful remote island of Ikaria has been named one of the healthiest places on earth and is a spot of exceptional longevity. Ikaria is a part of ‘Blue Zones’ a name given to 5 places in the world: Ikaria, Sardinia in Italy, Okinawa of Japan, Nicoya of Costa Rica and Loma Linda of California, USA, whose inhabitants surpass the life expectancy and reach over the age of 90 years.
As life expectancy continues to soar, more and more of us are living to well over the age of 100. We ask some of the oldest people in the world the question everyone wants answered: what is the secret to long life?

Mrs. Joanna Proyu passed away on April 5, 2023 at 112 years old. She finally joined her husband and family. ❤

My Greek grandma says that her secret to long life is to “never hold hate in your heart and always see the bright sight, everyone is a family for me”. I believe that this simplicity in viewing the good in others help you live happy and thus less stressed.

My father here in Greece is 92 with no health problems, young at heart, and loves to dance even now, his 2 cousins of him passed away when the one was 102 and the second 104 also with no health problems, They are not stressed living calmly eating healthy. That's the key to long life and hope that everyone reaches 102 and 104🇬🇷

Last year I visited my grandparents’ village in Arcadia in Peloponnese, visiting the cemetery I realized almost everybody has lived around 97-99 years...

Best climate and culture in the world. Had vacation for 5 weeks, beautiful memories even though I wasn't born there.

In Australia we are stressed out by our jobs , traffic , debt , high taxes , congestion and repressive laws which make life hell, Greek island life is paradise by comparison.

My father living in a village in Messinia Peloponesse Greece he left this world at the age 100,the same age his sister when pass away.

My grandma is 94 now and she is in good health. Like imagine living a whole century. These people have lived through WW2 and survived and are still here with all their stories.

I live in Malta 🇲🇹,my mother lived 100 and 8 months,Many live long lives in my country ,but even some are too obese,eating everything they can and get sick,I’m 78 ,I feel great and try not to eat bad food ,I’m almost vegan,don’t take medicine .i love life and God.
