Hey its me, the Tank. Thanks so much for the tips to improve. Its really interresting to watch somebody watch you play. Some of the mistakes i made were very obvious in the vod, but while I am playing i do not notice a lot of them. So thanks so much and I am very happy to be in one of your videos, even if I got rosted haha.

Times when it's bad to ask for heals (a non-comprehensive list): - When they're dead - When you're dead - When you are either someplace or in a situation where you cannot be healed safely - If you're spamming it - If you are missing 5 hp and you can see that they are on a critical teammate - If they have just finished calling that they're being dove and you have no intention of peeling for them Times when it's good to ask for heals (a non-comprehensive list): - When you are on a different plane or are behind them (i.e. widowmaker or someone up a wall) - When you can see they are distracted by a non-critical teammate or the teamfight in general (or suspect they could be) and need heal - If you need a top-up and are not in the middle of a teamfight - You just realized you accidentally have taken literally all the aggro and will shortly be falling over - You are the other support or a self-healing hero and will need help because you are out of cooldowns/taking consistent damage that's preventing self heal etc when they may not expect it

The bigger problem I have, is that a LONE Genji or some other diver will go DEEP in my backline, COMPLETELY disrupt ALL FOUR of my team, and I'm wondering, am I supposed to keep holding the charging tank and three other enemies at bay, or am I supposed to run back and try to rescue them form ONE diver? Neither option seems to work.... Sometimes it's the enemy tank even, which I can see is more dangerous, but it's a classic example of feeding. I figure I cut off the supports and my team will shred the overextended tank, but NO! The guy will wipe everyone out while hardly taking any damage! But if I turn my back on the enemy I will DEFINITELY get shredded instantly. What's the deal???

I've seen a lot of lower rank tanks are very impatient. They constantly spam for heals while I'm reloading or keep holding forward when they are so low health. It's frustrating. Then you call them out or tell them to play slower then they tilt. Thankfully this tank is learning to play a little slower and make healing them easier for their supports.

Bad tank play like this brings the whole team down and is probably the biggest reason why it can be hard to climb out of the low ranks.
  • @TheOneTheOnlyOne
Bro I thought low ranked was like gold and below I feel attacked
  • I had a game where my tank was Reinhardt who thought LOS was an Asian country, and the enemy tank was a Dva that had a fetish for flanking and killing me specifically. One of the most frustrating games I've ever had.
  • This is so helpful Emongg thanks! Im a gold tank and I struggle with being too aggressive, not getting enough heals, and my supports dying early. Your comment about how this is partly on me because Im forcing my supports to take dangerous positions to heal me makes perfect sense.
  • @WhatAMagician
I saw in another video someone was talking about how a minimap would be really helpful, especially for tanks, and I hard agree. Especially as a low level tank player it is so difficult to be aware of where my supports are. Factor in that low level supports are often just in random places, so even if I had game sense (I don't) it wouldn't help much lol.
  • @DomJohn89
    It's me, I'm low ranked players 😂
  • @redpaw2153
You know what, it feels like they play all the tanks like they play Dva, the Dva gameplay was pretty good though
  • @jennycolaa
Please make a tank guide video! I’m a support main but I’ve recently picked up tank, and it’s been fun but I could definitely use some tips!
  • @neondead2.0.15
This why you need to at least try other roles to understand how much supps can heal and how deadly dps is.
  • @aaronolson6736
The first thing I would have liked for Tank is that their bonus health be armor/shields depending on the hero rather than to their normal health. Second is their passive reducing all CC. 3rd if anything would be an overall, every hero eventually getting a passive.
  • @jrgmen
The counter swap that matters to tank is the support swap
  • @ianchambers37
I had one game i picked orisa to use a new skin and immediately i had a bap voice chat/also write in texts: "no, not orisa. She doesnt block bullets. Worst tank ever." Then they started saying more negative and ruder things(i reported after the game was done) and i was like shrug and swapped. Never seen someone get so tilted for someone picking a hero and we had not even left spawn, lol.
  • @zc8673
As a gold/plat player, i hate seeing Orisa in my games on either side. Not because shes OP, but because it usually means either 1) Our tank is being gapped and needs a low skill hero to compete, or 2) everyone will just shoot at the enemy orisa the whole game and nobody dies.

At the expense of getting bullied off the internet, I wanted to ask a question that hopefully can get answered. Do you guys think having game sense/mechanical skill actually determines rank? Background: I have an account since OW 1 back in 2016, never been able to climb higher than Silver 3 on supp, or gold 4 on tank (usually bronze 1-2 for both). Just before season 9 started, after a 3 week losing streak, I did the unthinkable and I bought a diamond 4 supp account and haven't looked back. I know I've definitely learned a lot since 2016, from mechanics to game sense, but it never felt like it mattered at the lowest ranks. Not only did I do the stupid thing by buying an account, I also did it right before the hard reset in competitive. So I ended up testing my skills on both accounts- I felt I played the same way (played same characters, playstyle, same time of day, with similar amounts of stress levels coming from my life, etc.), but in my old account I was placed in Bronze 2, but in the bought account I was Diamond 2. Over the course of season 9, going between accounts I stayed in bronze on my 2016 account, and stayed in Diamond in the bought account. When I watch my games back to learn improvements, it seems to me my skills (as support, being versatile in kit/keeping people alive, as tank, making space/protecting supps) don't actually contribute to the game and that whether we win or lose is dependent on the rest of my team. Does this mean that I have to carry more in my bronze games to make a difference, or does this mean that ranked is not actually a measure of your skill? I hope emongg can answer this in a future video, but of course happy to hear y'alls comments too.
