Lego Mechanisms vs. Orbeez balls

Building and testing 3 Lego Technic mechanisms - track crusher, automatic hammer and actuator press. To show mechanical principles of each mechanism, I used hydrogel balls, also known as Orbeez. Its a type of polymer made to absorb and hold water. It's also called water beads. They are soft and slippery, can be easily crushed with your hands, but I’m not looking for easy ways.

don't know why on earth I just watched lego medieval torture devices for orbees, but I gotta give it to him. I watched the whole thing

  • Yeah it’s a long design process but think how much time he’ll save on destroying orbeez now that he’s automated the process!

Those orange orbeez really look like power eggs from splatoon. I love them

Love the way the hydraulic press is made btw

Orbeez are totally not harmed in this video :)

I still have a lot of Orbeez balls. Any ideas on what to do with them using Lego? Maybe build something or destroy them in a specific way?
  • You should make fun and interesting ways to transport orbeez with Lego. I think that would be pretty cool.
  • Somewhere out there there's a terran dropship deploying marines on a desert wasteland to protect the orbeez processing plant from being ravaged by burrowing zerg force

Videos like these are the real reason they don’t make LEGO out of metal.

With the crushed ones or just plain fresh ones you could create a sort of hydro pneumatic suspension system with them by putting them in a cylinder or something!
  • I'd like to see these revisited with feeder mechanisms, like conveyors or droppers or whatever.
  • Ou você é engenheiro ou é um genio.!! Como você pensa em cada peça e cada encaixe perfeito um ótimo trabalho parabéns 🎉
  • Ok this one got me good. These arent just ”great builds”, they are friggin awesome!
