Wolverine's Adamantium coating is not a weakness, that was only on the film. Adamantium only keeps his natural mutation from progressing further. This was shown when he was stripped off his entire Adamantium skeleton's coating by Magneto. First it was a traumatic event that his Healing Factor was so overworked it was shut down for a while. But then when it returned, it was not only stronger, but also his body began mutating further into a more animalistic state, similar to Sabertooth. His nails grew like Sabertooth's aside of his claws and his senses became more powerful along with his Healing, and also became hairier. The only draw back too was that he was also becoming extremely more aggressive and animalistic and had a harder time controlling his anger. As long as his Healing Factor is not affected, the Adamantium is not supposed to hurt him.
