One of the best stories about meeting the queen was told by someone who was most excited about doing so -- but forgot to put her cell phone on "silent." As the queen greeted her, her phone rang. The poor woman was mortified until the queen smiled and said, "You should get that, Dear. It might be someone important."

When I was 7 I saw the Queen in a parade. I was waving my British flag as she was driving past and she poked Phillip and pointed at me.

So much of this "advice" is simply good manners which we should display towards everyone, including social media!

*I am so grateful that you mentioned the word "paralyzed." that clearly describes me when I shook hands with the Queen, trying to remember what to say, and hoping that she offered her hand. I still cannot remember the event."

Old polite traditions spread out and people practice, basically just common sense, with the current Royal Family could appear to be over the top but it's so you don't forget, it's like setting an example.

The rule prohibiting touching the queen is actually a very practical one. She meets an average of over 50,000 people a year. She cannot afford to get sick as that would reduce the number of appearances she makes. The more people she has contact with the more likely she is to catch something. This in part is why she almost always wears gloves at such events. It wasn't until fairly recently that it was realized that invading her personal space like so many people have, also increases the risk of illness to her. One of the few items she keeps in her purse is hand sanitizer which she has carried for years.

The queen is still so beautiful and can only be described as absolutely striking. ❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸

Queens are never late. Everybody else is early. -Julie Andrews, The Princess Diaries 2.

In the 1980's I managed to shake hands with Prince Charles .. I was so overwhelmed , I couldn't speak as he reached out to shake my hand . He looked at me for about 5 seconds realizing my predicament ,he smiled, said thank you and moved on because his wife Dianna was calling out to him. I was so embarrassed... I felt like a complete idiot ..

The only thing more important than the queen is her peoples, to whom she has served dutifully and without putting a foot wrong for 70 years. Only people who understand constitutional monarchy can appreciate the priceless value of having a monarch as head of state.
