AH YES, THIS IS CRACK FOR MY EARS.
-
My Crops: Watered My Skin: Clear My Weave: Snatched
-
Silently waiting for I'll Make A Man Out Of You I'll be patient
-
“Yes I know I’m just an outcast I shouldn’t speak to you” Jesus, having been killed because people didn’t accept him: what in the heck are they teaching you about me
-
despite the fact i'm a raging atheist, this song hit me deep in my cold black heart. Esmeralda perfectly expresses her pure, honest wish for the betterment of her people, even if she herself receives nothing. She isn't even all that sure of Christianity herself, yet still she grasps at whatever hope she can find. i'm… i'm just gonna cry for a bit, alright?

LYRICS ↓ I don't know if you can hear me, Or if you're even there I don't know if you would listen To my people's prayer Yes, I know I'm just an outcast, I shouldn't speak to you But, Still, I see your face and wonder Were you once an outcast too? God help the outcasts, Hungry from birth Show them the mercy they don't find on earth God help my people we look to you still God help the outcasts or nobody will I ask for nothing I can get by But I know so many Less lucky than I Please help my people The poor and downtrod I thought we all were The Children of God God help the outcasts The Children of God
-
My favorite part about the movie is that when Esmerelda was like 'God, I don't really give a shit about myself, but can you go help my people?' and God was like '*Yes child.*'
-
The “I thought we all were children of God” hits hard
-
Guys, she's gonna welcome us to her Candy Store soon!

This song is the purest song Disney has ever written. And your voice singing it makes it purer. Consider Esmeralda. She was in a HORRIBLE mess at this point, functionally imprisoned in the cathedral with Frollo and the town guards out for her life, through absolutely no fault of her own. If ever there was a time to pray for help, this was it. She's also surrounded by people praying for selfish reasons and unaware of how good they actually have it. Instead she's asking God to help people who have it worse than her, because she'll be okay. So pure.

Ok, but this physically hurts. I normally don't cry over songs, but this song hits me hard and your voice is so freaking beautiful I'm actually crying

The Opening line is what gets me in this song. Esmeralda speaks to the Virgin Mary as if she can relate to her on some level looking past the Sainthood. While in truth I can imagine Mary would have been outcast when it was found out she was pregnant before consummating her marriage with Joseph, no one but her husband believed her and stood by her while she was outcast from her village. So the idea of excluding people never sat with me when it comes to organized religion. So i have no doubt Mary has more in common with Esmeralda's people then those who worshiped her.
-
The fact that Jesus was actually considered a social outcast makes the song a hundred times better.
-
Your vibrato has improved allot! This is probably among your best vocal work to date. The instrumental track is absolutely stunning!
-
14 seconds. She held that for 14 SECONDS. SHE IS MAGICAL
-
when you replaced the g slur with my people... wig snatched... the whole legend just came out
-
THIS SONG HAS LITERALLY BEEN ON MY MIND FOR THREE WEEKS NOW...AND NOW U MAKE A COVER ON IT??? HAVE I BEEN BLESSED?
-
Your voice fits Esmeralda so well, I can honestly see you as her if this show were on Broadway (if it is, I'm sorry for my ignorance I'm not much of a theater person. XD) Lovely job, Anna!

1:30~2:03 The rich: I ask for wealth I ask for fame I ask for glory to shine on my name I ask for love I can possess I ask for God and His angels to bless me Then Esmeralda says: I ask for nothing I can get by But I know so many less lucky than I There is something in this part that just hits that one spot.
