  • The entire movie kinda felt like it was missing a little something more. I think this movie could have been great if each scene had just that bit extra to make it stand out more.
  • To be fair, AM3 at least had a place that was already pre-established in movies beforehand "The Quantuum Realm", unlike those movies you've just mentioned which came out of nowhere (BP3, Shang-Chi, Eternals, etc).

I think the issue with quantumania is that people are getting franchise fatigue. The movies themselves are ok, but it does feel like there's been a drop in quality since the pandemic.

Awesome video!!! Also I got my ranking of the 2022 movies I saw in my opinion, and I respect yours as well :) also in my opinion D tier is the neutral territory for me :) Rank: - S Tier: The Bad Guys (9.9-10), Minions the Rise of Grew (9.8-10) - A Tier: Jurassic World Dominion (8,9-10), The Pinocchio live action remake (8.6-10) - B Tier: N/A - C Tier: N/A - D Tier: Avatar the way of Water (5-10), Ice Age Adventures if Buck Wild (4.8-10) - F Tier: N/A
  • Are you gonna do a 2022 ranking? Because I would love to see that in the same sort of style you did last year!
  • Yessssss, someone who also liked Quantumania 🍻I'm really into the Ant-Man movies and thought the visuals in this were hammy af but I'll take the Shark Boy Lava Girl aesthetic as long as it's creative- I'm still in awe of the shot where all the scotts and hopes combine! ...also you convinced me to watch Megan, it's been on my watchlist but I'm gonna actively seek it out now 💀 But yes why did the mario movie add interesting backstories only to brush it over with 2 lines???
  • Watched the Mario Movie yesterday, the first half is my least favorite part. Also hate how Luigi didn’t do anything the whole movie basically, thought he’d have a better character arc. It felt lacking but it was alright ig I also wished there was more with the Fire Flower field scene. They should of done more with that 😭(I knew they wouldn’t but you can only hope)
  • I didn't let the media influence my opinion on super mario bros either, not because I wanted to watch it for myself, but because I didn't care nor want to know anything about it during it's release. I lost all hope and faith for illumination studios after Secret Life of Pets 2. Why did that specific movie break me you ask? out of every other objectively worse movie in their catalog? Well, and I don't say this lightly, it was boring beyond comprehension, it was so lazy, so uninspired, I was falling asleep, which I had never done before for any movie no matter how bad it was. This is coming from someone who has watched worse movies for fun, except those movies were so bad I atleast had something to laugh at or say about it. I even watched Secret Life of Pets 2 with someone which was supposed to make it more interesting, yet we both were just left confused, and sleepy by the second act. None of it made sense, and when the second act was over, we legitimately thought the movie was over, only to check the time stamp and there was 30 more minutes left. We tried to watch it until the end, but I fell asleep 10 minutes before it finished. During the movie, I tried to be critical of it and paint it as a bad movie, but in reality, it's not a bad movie. It's just a boring, simple, uninspired movie made for babies like most of their other movies, expect this one was thought of while they were having lunch someday probably and spat it out into reality. Whenever I see illumination make new movies, all I can think of is "wow, so many babies are going to have new movies to watch this year". Not because I don't think adults can enjoy their movies, but because I don't think their intended audience was ever adults or teens in the first place. They are one of the only major animation companies that makes movies for mostly 1 demographic, and that is either families or little children. In my opinion, even some of Disney and Pixar's worst animated theatrical release movies aren't as boring, and uninspired as half of illumination's catalog. Sony's emoji movie might be, but they proved their love, and respect for animation with spiderverse. Even BLUE SKYS of all studios made more interesting, and entertaining movies that people of all ages could objectively enjoy. They even dipped their toes into a different animation style with spies in disguise which was something I wouldn't have expected from them. In the end, my main point isn't that illumination makes bad movies, my opinion is that they make lazy, uninspired, not bad, but not great movies with the same copy and paste animation style which has little style, personality, or individuality when put next to any of their other movies. Disney is falling into this trap as well, but atleast they have past work to prove they can/will do better. I think illumination knows they can do better, but they don't want to because their formula already works, so why bother changing it. That is why I have no respect for them. Again, BLUE SKY of all studios in my opinion is more respectable than illumination, even after they made 5 ice age movies and ran that franchise into the ground, just like illumination did with minions, they still tried to make original or interesting movies even if they failed. Blue Sky's Peanuts movie adaptation wasn't the most entertaining movie ever, but I feel like they really nailed the style, and essence of what they were adapting. The lego movie was even more entertaining, and stylized even though they were just adapting a simple toy into a movie. However, movies like super mario bros movie looks so uninspired, it doesn't look stylized even though they are adapting from something that is stylized. If blue skys came back from the grave, I feel like even they could've atleast made the super mario bros movie look more interesting or stylized.

I just wanna point out the irony in defending Quantumania's mediocrity for its spectacle, then in the same video saying Mario is mediocre for being a spectacle.
  • @Olives_area
Yeah i dont understand all the ant-man 3 hate, i thought it was pretty good
  • Yeah I totally agree with what you said on Quantumania it’s nowhere near as bad as other stuff in phase 4 I enjoyed myself a lot
