Is this Oilers team more talented on paper than the one that just lost in the Stanley Cup Final? Should Jeff Jackson be the Oilers general manager? What do you want to see happen with Evander Kane? What is the Oilers biggest remaining need? How do you see the Leon Draisaitl situation playing out? Is Edmonton the clear favourite to win the Pacific Division? Jason Strudwick joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss all that and more.

It's honestly amazing what they pulled off. As Oiler fans we're not used to enjoying this time of year, but wow how cool is it to see the team get EVEN better.
  • Kings fan here 😂 After following the Oilers the past 3 years in the playoffs, I think I’m starting to become an Oiler fan haha. Great moves, they’re gonna be a tough out as usual.

Ya think? Pretty much every other top 4/5 team got slightly worse, yet Edmonton not only brought back everyone they wanted to, but added 2 huge pieces to their team.
  • Absolutely more talented. For much of last season it seemed like Draisaitl was skating with guys who were not really top 6 players. With Skinner and Arvidsson that won't be the case. The forward group is way deeper than last year's.
  • I think Connor and Leon are quite close and they know what each other plan to do.
  • Oilers are now Canada's best team. Everyone's go-to team when your club is eliminated from playoffs. Proud of this team. When the best player in the world is also the hardest working and the most competitive, that is scary.

I’m sad to see Foegele go but all the other moves are incredible! Let’s bring the cup home in 2025!!!
  • Jason is wrong about Leon. Jeff Jackson said he will talk to both McD and LEon during the contract negotiations this summer. Both will decide what they will get and Leon is signing this summer before August. I will guarantee you that

Oilers have the best center depth in the league by a mile. Mcdavid, Drai, RNH and Henrique. They added some pieces to polish off the winger group. I think Struddy is right, 1 more puck moving defensemen would be deadly. I’m debating throwing $20 on this team winning the cup next year.
  • Edmontons team defence was fantastic during playoffs. Henrique, McLeod and RHN are all good- excellent 2way forwards. Draisatl backchecks and McD is figuring out his 200 ft game.. Don't touch it.
  • Kane when he is on top of his game; is a hard guy to replace. Had he not been sliced on his hand , then after the dirty check he took hurt his hip and had a hernia from over extended activity , those are hard injuries . of course he couldn't play a full season . what a stupid thing to quote for a reason to give up on him . he scores more hat tricks in the playoffs then every oiler on the bench for easy 7 years . he scores more then 80% of the rest of the team . WE NEED TO KEEP HIM PERIOD . EVERYTHING ELSE IS NONSENSE EXCUSES TO FREE UP CAP SPACE. GET RID OF NURSE AS HE HURTS THE TEAM FARM MORE THEN HELPS AND COSTS 9.5 A YEAR. KANE HURT PLAYS BETTER THEN NURSE HEALTHY
  • Finally, the national sports media talking about an actual Canadian Stanley Cup contender. Long overdue.
  • @TannerNelso
We hope and pray that we get back to the final
  • 91 could have been the missing link in stopping the gooning that McDavid took in the Florida series.
  • @Valarmorgolis
Now get rid of that ridiculous Nurse contract. That $9 Million can buy 2 solid defenseman, help the Draisaitl re-sigh or even get another high scorer, even a solid veteran backup goalie for the playoffs. So many options with $9 Million.

Jeff Skinner better buy in. Not known for a 200 foot game. Never been in the playoffs doesn't know what it takes to win. We'll see how committed he is to winning.
  • @September2004
Hopefully Jeff Skinner can get into the playoffs. I can’t imagine what it would be like to play hundreds of games in the NHL before you play your first playoff game. That’s why I was so glad that Jack Eichel win the Stanley Cup despite the fact it was on the Golden Knights.
