The most refreshing thing about this is that Michael Keaton seems like a genuinely nice guy lol
  • Aged amazingly. Even the bit about not being able to come up with a dumber name than “Deep Onion” led to the bit over the name “Monkey Jizz”. This is truly one of the timelines.

My wife and I were in London staying in an AirBnB a few years ago now. Hosts invited us to have some wine with them before we went out for dinner, so we did. They started telling us about this cryptocurrency they'd both quit their jobs to start doing full time and how "it was going to change the world". We sat with them, asked some questions and then had to leave for our dinner reservation. As soon as we were in the lift, I turned to my wife and said "Bitconneeeeeeeeeeeeeect!" and we both pissed ourselves laughing. These two sounded exactly as daft and ludicrous as that guy did

FOMO is a strong force. If you start a line, people will start joining without actually knowing what the line is for.

This aired 4 years ago and it never gets old. still true to the end of 2022

I was NOT expecting Dan Gurewitch to show up in a "stock" photo. I'm glad to know he's got a good gig, the college humor sketches were pretty hilarious!

Everything about this episode is wild in 2021
  • When John Oliver said that almost anyone could create a cryptocurrency, I was dead sure that by the end of the episode, he would introduce a cryptocurrency that they created, just like he did with televanlegism.
  • An episode on NFTs would be hilarious.

Cryptocurrencies are not to be confused with cryptid currencies, which are why the Loch Ness Monster keeps asking for about tree fiddy.

For a second I thought they actually got the bit connect guy to come on and talk about how ppl should use caution, all because his voice sounded so sad when he went "hey hey heeeeyyyyy" from behind the stage.

Love to watch this as crypto is failing and some of the fraud is finally being investigated

When referencing corporate America, he said “They don’t really care about you as they make it seem” realest thing he said...I’ve seen experienced it first hand in the DMV. Black ppl aren’t really respected in corporate America. Glad that he was able to get out of there and become his own boss VCORPINVEST
  • @TacettheTerror
I completely lost it when he yelled out responsibility with that much enthusiasm. xD

Do another episode on Crypto now. Would be a good follow-up

I'm surprised he didn't mention how taxing Bitcoin is on our ecosystem. It needs so much electricity that it's getting exponentially worse for our environment. Thanks for sharing this amazing information.

This segment aged well. Blockchain currency is supposed to be a replacement for the fiat currencies. But, people use it as a gambling tool on stock markets.
