The flute lady needs to be highlighted, she did a great job in the solo parts

47:36 For those who didn’t know, before Beethoven’s 9th 4th MVM there was NO singing voices in symphonies. Singing ONLY happened in Operas. People must have gotten the shock of their lives when singers stood up just like this and heard that booming voice for the very first time. And that that is another reason why Beethoven broke the mold in classical music.
  • He is the most energetic of conductors. That often implies confusing. But in his case it is exactly the opposite. Every movement is crystal clear and in the spirit of supporting the music at that point. The result is the orchestra is also crystal clear. You get the feeling that the players like him and are fully engaged. The Mendelssohn 4th he did with this orchestra is like hearing it for the first time. Stunning. Note too that on the downbeats, his batton is going up! He is leading them forward and the players do that too.
  • Maestro Orozco Estrada is , by far, my favorite conductor. I seek him out whenever I have a symphony I want to hear. I also really enjoy the Franfurt Symphony. What a pairing. I enjoyed their performance very much (although I though the singing was a little ragged at times/)

Groooooßartiges Orchester. Meiner Meinung nach das Beste weltweit zur Zeit !!!!!

I would like to express my gratitude to, Ludvig van Beethoven for bringing this composition to this planet. I also would like to express my gratitude to the conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada for leading the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra in this performance as well as my gratitude to the musicians in the Orchestra, and of course the soloists. An amazing performance on every level. The fact that anyone with a decent internet connection and a pair of headphones can enjoy this piece of music uninterrupted is a gift.

Orozco-Estrada is simply remarkable. So is the orchestra. What a performance!
  • This was an astoundingly joyous performance throughout. This conductor is an inspiration I think, just watching the way the orchestra members responded to his very clear direction was great. Was impressed to see the classical horns in use too. The choristers and soloists were spot on.

Ode to joy always makes me cry. I was curious if anyone from the audience feels the same and I spotted one. You can see the woman with the black shirt at the center of the screen wiping her tears at 54:49 to 54:59 , again moving at 55:04 and wiping her tears again at 55:06 . Wonderful

I am just some dumbfounded how clear the sound quality is. The performance is excellent and the engineering post production mixing it the best ever. Each voice is so clearly heard even in FF tutti. Amazing!

Can't stop watching this. Our electronic age cannot hold a candle to this beauty.
  • A wonderful reading of this masterpiece, and a series of enlightening comments already amplify its qualities. I'd like to add this, as one blessed to live in a city where Andres Orozco-Estrada is music director: I know of no other great conductor with whom the gifted musicians demonstrate as much joy and enthusiasm as they labor together. His passion and skill and appreciation of music and musicians draw ensembles together, and every performance becomes itself an ode to Joy. Bravo and bravi, indeed.
  • This performance brought the tears. The conductor took me into the music. I looked at him and knew where was and knew where I was going in the music. It was more than just listening. Thank you.

I am exhausted from watching and appreciating this. Maestro Andrés deserves a raise, as do many of the musicians. Bravo!
  • Breathtaking and exciting performance to all!! Maestro Estrada, you are my absolute favorite conductor, so passionate and brilliant! Thank you all, I have watched all of the symphonies you have performed. I love how Maestro Estrada always applauds the musicians, and esp the individual soloists and sections, it’s great to see these talented players recognized after such a difficult marathon of the most beautiful music in the world. Watching you is the best part of my day. Love it.
  • @alexgomez2
Indeed Maestro Andrés Orozco is very likely my favorite young conductor. He’s got the energy of Georg Solti, the musicality of Claudio Abbado and the temper of Herbert Karajan with the musical authority of Ricardo Muti. Amazing!
  • Beethoven zenéje maga az örök csoda, és ezt csak megkoronázza Andrés Orozco- Estrada vezénylése. Együtt él minden dallammal. Szívünk minden melegével köszönjük ezt a sok szép zenét Neki és zenekarának!
