हम्पी, दक्षिणी भारत के एक पुराने शहर विजयनगर में स्थित एक छोटासा गांव है. 1336 से 1565 तक, यह शहर विजयनगर साम्राज्य की राजधानी था. उस समय, विजयनगर साम्राज्य दक्षिणी भारत के ज़्यादातर हिस्सों पर राज करता था. 1565 में, डेक्कन महासंघ ने इस शहर पर जीत हासिल की और 6 महीनों तक इसकी संपत्ति को लूटा. इस शहर की खुदाई करने पर पुरातत्त्ववेत्ताओं को कई भव्य महल और मंदिर, पानी की शानदार व्यवस्था और कई दूसरे बुनियादी ढांचे मिले. इसके बाद, 1986 में इस प्राचीन शहर को (UNESCO World Heritage) यूनेस्को विश्व विरासत स्थल घोषित कर दिया गया.

Hampi is a small village located in Vijayanagara, an old city in southern India. From 1336 to 1565, the city was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. At that time, the Vijayanagara Empire ruled most of southern India. In 1565, the Deccan confederacy conquered the city and plundered its wealth for 6 months. On excavating this city, archaeologists found many grand palaces and temples, a magnificent water system and many other infrastructures. After this, in 1986 this ancient city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
