The fact that this episode is called "The Death of Clark Kent" and not "The Death of Superman" makes me worried about Clark's personality.

“Let’s find your weakness so I can kill you”. Brainiac wastes no time to show how mercilessly efficient it gets the job done.

The Black Mercy in this show is a reference to that creature in the Superman comic "For the Man who has Everything".

This is the most unique interpretation of the Superman/DC universe I’ve ever seen. Thank you adult swim and Jake Wyatt for giving the world this masterpiece.

Imagine, being Brainiac and thinking hitting Superman with cars would hurt.

An interesting take on the black mercy in this series. It's a kryptonian device in this universe. The black mercy always seems to be trouble for Superman. This time, Brainiac is using it to try to learn Superman's weakness so he can take over his body. It makes sense for this version of Kandor to be falling apart with the destruction of Krypton and all. Brainiac's need for a new body also makes sense because of it. He even has a bit of a sick sense of humor as Superman has to relive a previous battle just so Brainiac can succeed in his plans. This is definitely going to be rough for Clark.

We’re celebrating the show’s first anniversary with this one, and it looks like it’s gonna be a total recap episode, which I am all for.

So brainiac may use the black mercy to take control of Clark and rewrite his personality to fit brainiacs agenda but I think Lois, jimmy and Kara will save him and help Clark destroy brainiac who will take over wallers tech army and save metropolis and Waller will be disgraced but swear revenge of Superman for ruining her. Kara will live in the Kent farm and learn what it’s like to have a happy family.

I have a feeling we are finally going to see a realization of Clark's nightmares from last season where he sees himself in Brainiac's suit and tries to kill Jimmy and Lois. He's been having strange daydreams and nightmares up until this point--impressions of an invasion gone wrong. I'm glad they didn't just abandon that storyline.

Based off of this episodes title and next episodes title, I have a little theory. Before this episode ends, the cliffhanger it’ll end on is Clark aka Superman trapped in the black mercy, with Lois and the other believing that they were too late while Brainiac quickly makes his way to earth because wouldn’t you know it….lex and Amanda waller gave him the perfect replacement body because of all the kryptonian tech they were augmenting their forces with. In the next episode, Lois is going to get help from Brain and The gorilla (forgot his name) Jack into the black mercy to release Clark/superman. However, due to a surprise by Brainiac who’s trying to stop it or a measure to prevent anyone from releasing Superman from the black mercy, Lois also falls under this effect. Hence, why she is supposively in an alternate reality….its what the black mercy is trapping her in based off a thought in her head of what her life could have been like if she never met Clark/Superman.

Michael Emerson is an expert at creepy monotones. Who better than him to voice Brainiac?

If they made Brainiac this badass. Imagine what Darkseid is gonna look like?

If Brainiac wants to possess Clark using the Black Mercy just to expand his Guilt, then you know things will be Bad.
