As a former gymnast, the body shaming coming from your own coaches and fellow gymnasts happens more often than people would think. What people don’t tell you is that in order to have energy for your body to perform in optimal shape you need to eat properly, exercise responsibly and have a good sleeping habit. I was too thin for my own good and couldn’t gain weight until way into my 20s and had severe iron deficiency both from genetics and not eating during my most intense training years. She is pure muscle. People body shaming her have a very distorted image of what a professional gymnast should look like.

When your body is able to do what Katelyn's is, I consider that a perfect body. In other words, when your body does what you need it to do and you are healthy and happy, your body is perfect. Every perfect body looks different, people!

I really wished this interview covered the part about Katelyn quitting and her UCLA coach is what turned her around!!! That woman cares about each of those girls as a human being first, and then a gymnast! The UCLA gymnastics coach is the epitome of what EVERY gymnastics coach should be! We love you Katelyn! ❤

This person doing the interview is so impressive. She is really listening and genuinely interested and caring.

I’m not a gymnastics expert, but her floor routine, fitness, and strength truly moved me. She was totally in control throughout the routine, and best of all…she looked like she was having fun.
  • @jalissa4120
She definitely snapped , that routine was on point start to finish , and she has body goals , body shaming??? They’re crazy !
  • @gtamuir
Her body is 100% PERFECT...it doesn’t get any better...
  • Shout out to the interviewer who was very respectful and let her tell the story and didnt cut her off
  • @shibuya427
Wtf.... her body is PERFECT !! 🤦‍♀️
  • @JessG_20
I don't quite understand the "but you don't look like a gymnast" comments. I've seen gymnasts with the more triangular shape - broad shoulders and narrower hips but I've also seen a good number of them with bodies more similar to hers. They all tend to have one thing in common, even if not structured the same - thickness (meaning muscle thickness) and she has that, obviously. She definitely LOOKS like a gymnast. Wtf?
  • When Nastia gets upset that someone mentioned her father in her victim impact statement, but Katelyn Ohashi was literally coached by her father and we can easily figure out who bodyshamed her.....awkward
  • @heidisnider6155
I was an elite power tumbler/ gymnast and like Katelyn have a muscular build! I developed an eating disorder at at age 12 because my coach suggested I lose 5 lbs. when I was going through puberty! I have been in and out of hospitals for anorexia/ blulimia and still struggle with my body image at age 53 but am in therapy and am learning to love myself! God created each and every one of us how he wanted us! We have different shapes and sizes and We are ALL beautiful ! Embrace what you have! Katelyn is strong, fierce and gorgeous!
  • how is she body shamed I would kill to have a body like that she is in PERFECT shape Edit: OMG thanks for all the likes Edit 2:i also deal with body shame so I feel Katelyn's emotions going through this and if I had her body I would push anyone body shaming me down.
  • @sahpire75
You can see she's still very wounded when speaking about that awful body shaming. She's a true warrior and inspiring
  • @morningstar8959
As a coach myself if I ever heard another coach say something about one of my team eating anything at anytime I would slap them right in the mouth! We’re in these sports to be healthy and have fun. Why would they tell anyone putting their body through all this not to feed the muscles!? It makes me mad because they take the fun from these kids and even adults.
  • She is Incredibly strong not only physically but mentally, emotionally as well.... I really admire her. She went from being at the top of sport at just 12 years old to the bottom due to injuries at the young age of 16.... but only temporarily! and she did it with class! She may have been down but never was she out!! Way to go Ohasi!
