Last year, both athletes were disqualified from the World Championships by the International Boxing Association (IBA) for failing gender eligibility tests. Now, the IBA is set to hold a news conference on Monday to explain the reasons behind their disqualification.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has cast doubt on the reliability of these tests, hinting that the controversy might be part of a "politically motivated cultural war."
In June 2023, the IOC stripped the IBA of its status as the sport’s world.

The World watching a bloke knocking 7 bells out of a woman is degrading too. In future, if an athlete's gender is in doubt, a full medical verification should take place. If they refuse, they don't take part in the sport at International level. Simple.

Genital checks have never been the procedure. The IOC did cheek-swab chromosome tests until 2000. They're quick, unintrusive and they confirm biological sex.
