Track Info: Rockford Speedway - A historical .29167 mile asphalt oval with a limestone base. Corners are banked at 22 degrees and are 50 ft wide with a roller coaster effect. Straights are banked at 8 degrees and are 40 ft wide.
Track History: Rockford Speedway is located just seven miles north of Rockford, IL in Loves Park, IL. Rockford Speedway is Northern Illinois’ longest running sports and entertainment venue.
Since the inaugural season in 1948, the high-banked quarter mile oval has been tabbed as “Mid-America’s Finest Racetrack.” Rich in racing tradition, this reputation has been well earned through hosting major events like the granddaddy of all short track post season events, the National Short Track Championships.
This prestigious event has helped launch the careers of the NASCAR stars such as Mark Martin, Dick Trickle, Alan Kulwicki, Ted Musgrave, Rusty Wallace, Rich Bickle, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Travis Kvapil, Jamie McMurray, Todd Kluever, Erik Darnell, and Scott Wimmer.
The racing is sanctioned by the National Association of Stock Car Racing, NASCAR. Rockford Speedway participates in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. The divisions that compete at the Rockford Speedway includes: Late Model, Sportsman, American Short Trackers, Road Runners, Hornets, Bandits, Winged Women on Wheels and Figure 8’s. The track also hosts many different touring series including: ARCA Midwest Tour, Big 8 late Model Series, Mid-American Stock Car Series, Illini Racing Series Midgets, Super Cups and more.
Focused on entertaining the fans, Rockford Speedway’s family-oriented racing schedule is nationally known for its innovative events like the ‘Original Trailer Race of Destruction,’ ‘World Famous Figure 8 Trailer Race’ and ‘Night of Thrills.’ The Speedway also welcomes nationally-known monster trucks like Tail Gator, Devastator and Mechanical Mischief along with Doug Rose and his world famous Green Mamba Jet Car.
The Speedway is a quarter-mile, high-banked, asphalt race track with fan-friendly grandstand seating on both sides. The facility has been used for circuses, concerts, car shows, sporting events, swap meets, outdoor sales and numerous community fundraising events.

Just asked my cousin yesterday about spectator drag. Thank you for your coverage on all the events at the speedway . I moved to Florida 20 years ago .miss all the rockford speedway stuff . Your coverage gives me a little peice of home . You do great work .
