Slight correction, I mention the box office. It's gonna total like 23m plus, so fear not!
  • I was immensely satisfied Evil Dead Rise is a masterclass of demented horror. Those practical effects were honestly jaw-dropping, with the gore elements ramped up a notch it's unapologetically gruesome and brutal
  • Evil dead Rise was the mutt's nuts ... Dark and with kids involved, great story, GREAT acting, great acting ... Superb, and the opening and credits were brilliant

Loved how they paid homage to the camera work from the original film.

I like how the deadites works in this movie kind like the necromorphs. They can't be killed because it is already dead, so it needs to cut off the limbs until the body is unable to move. They can also fuse bodies into a single monstrosity.
  • I saw this in theaters the other night. Very entertaining. It reminded me a bit of Demons 2 (1986).
  • Fede Alvarez showed that an evil dead movie could work without the slapstick comedy or bruce campbell, and its good to see this movie carried that torch on taking a more darker tone. The comedy in both these iterations more comes from the absurd and gag inducing violence. Loved this movie so much. Definitely gets the "groovy" seal of approval.

Saw this last night...I absolutely have loved all movies in the entire franchise. Grew up on the Evil Dead movies with Bruce Campbell. With that said...Evil Dead Rise was an absolute must see for me on the big screen and was beyond not disappointed. Loved this movie and the homage to the original with the film work and the chainsaw. Must see on the big screen for sure.
  • Saw it last night as well. Have to agree 100%, the sound design was immense. Even before a single shot was on the screen with flies buzzing around and unnerving you. The sound was a massive character in of it self. Terrifying. Loved it! And that Bruce Campbell line with the shotgun. Come get some. Perfection.

Evil Dead Rise is an instant classic. I haven't seen a horror movie this good in a while. It's at Par with all the old Evil Dead movies. Great Job!!!

I would love to go watch this in the theaters, but I'm so broke.

I found all the characters insufferable and didn’t care if they lived or died. Let’s check some boxes: the irresponsible sister that finds herself irresponsibly pregnant, the short haired girl talking about protesting and with feminism posters hanging in her room, the trans dj kid, the Hispanic neighbor that happens to be devoutly religious, etc. These were caricatures, not characters. Such a letdown.

I went to see this last night and sat with a huge grin on my face the whole way through. Not just because it was funny, but because I was thinking "this is what should happen in an Evil Dead movie". Again and again. The Rat King was brilliant. The gore was excellent. I'd love to see a spin off about the priests who recorded the book. There was just so much material from this movie that could be used to make sequels/prequels. I kicked myself for not seeing the first remake in the cinema, but this movie was the perfect compensation.
  • I've never seen any evil dead films besides this tonight and I had a blast. The deadites are proper twisted!

Great timing for me with this review! My son has invited me to watch it with him, as he knows Evil Dead was once one of my favourite films. I’ll try not to miss the “chomic relief” and I’m shure I will enjoy “Evil Dead Rise”, especially watching it with my son😵‍💫😁

That scalp. I was, like, oh. OH WE'RE GOING THERE LET'S FUCKING GO. I will never forget that weekend. Two awesome days with friends and another movie from series I cherish as long as I can remember. Perfect storm. Lee Cronin is worth following.
  • @Jmnzz
The great thing about Evil Dead is it can work as straight up serious horror or slapstick comedy. Very versatile IP.
  • Just got back from watching this film, with my eldest. Great film, it was good decision that they did a theatrical release

I saw it Saturday on a 10pm screening. I don't think I've seen a more bloody film in my life! Bloody Hell! Literally! And I noticed that the director couldn't resist a nod to the shining as the two survivors were escaping at the finale!:face-fuchsia-tongue-out:
