It always amazes me that when these boats flip, the throttle man rarely cuts the throttle. Qatar was still hard on throttle when it was clear they were gonna flip. Victory cut the throttles and it stopped the boat from flipping. I really don't understand it, and I am an offshore racing fan and know alot about it.

Some mighty massive action over there. Too bad there is so little support for, and no coverage of, this type of racing in the USA, where it began.

Cool to see a race with many boats instead of time attack.

One minute you in boat, next minute in submarine...

I poured a whole package of Pop Rocks in my mouth once. That was pretty intense

bro didnt let off at all. said fuck it we riding it out

No camels were injured

Side drafting dude needs to get into NASCAR for that to work.

The throttle man needed to pull back a little bit I know no one ever wants to let off but at least you will finish the race right side up.....

That put a surprisingly big smile on my face!

Throttle guy was sipping a latte or something??? Making a sammich??

Canards. You need canards on these things.

That was pretty epic. Not saying it was good that they crashed but it was still pretty interesting lol

The reason for this crash was because Qatar approached the leading boat much too close and when it was midway along the leading boat it came into a zone of the higher pressure air being thrown out from under the leading boat. These boats, travelling at that speed ram air under their hulls and they are marginally stable. That sudden change of conditions meeting a zone of slightly higher pressurised from the bows while its own could not escape as the hulls were too close, caused the incident. Once the angle of attack/ incidence became greater , the boat lifted. The leading boat did not suffer, because her conditions basically remained the same. I wonder if as an emergency a small drag parachute tied to the transom would have saved the day and for normal control a tailplane and a rudder at the back would add another control system if ever the boat becomes airborne, as with rudders and throttle alone one cannot meet control in all conditions or states these fast boats may get into. I feel the pilots should be given a detailed course in the aerodynamics showing the states when these boats are travelling alone, near one boat and when sandwiched between two boats.

side drafting only works effectively in NASCAR...
-
The front end of the boat should be a bit heavier so is not easy to flip God bless and keep it comin'

As with all racing machines, the crashes are the best part, they really draw the crowds. NASCAR discovered the pot o gold long ago.
