EJ Obiena sets the new Asian championship record of 5.91 in pole vault from the old record of 5.81 meters which he also set in Bahrain a few years ago. But he already holds the personal record, Philippine national record as well as over-all new Asian record of 6.0 meters he set in Europe that is why he tries to break it thru jumping 6.02 but unfortunately did not make it. He still wins the gold because he got the highest leap of 5.91 and way ahead of 5.56 meters of Saudi Arabia and 5.51 meters of China. EJ Obiena is currently World's rank 3 and he is the only world class level in Asia. He is the only Asian who beat Sweden's Duplantis, world's current record holder in one tournament.
