For 40 years, it was the sound of the stop watch and Mike's voice that signaled the start of another edition of 60 Minutes. The broadcast pays tribute to a great reporter and colleague.

Mike Wallace was the epitome of a great journalist. There will never be another like him

Mike Wallace. A key example why most TV news personalities today don’t belong on TV. And aren’t journalists. He was.

This is freedom of the press, non bias journalism.

Always liked the old saying, "You know it's going to be a bad day when you get to work and see Mike Wallace waiting in the lobby."

The audacious, pragmatic, articulate, sometimes ungentlemanly & almost obnoxious truth-seeker: The ideal characteristics of an investigative journalist; Mr. Mike Wallace!

I will never forget seeing Mike Wallace in my town doing his thing, he came to interview a former police officer who was accused of corruption. Seeing this Iconic person walking the same sidewalks I did totally blew my mind as a teenager. No matter why he was there, he was in my town. I only regret not approaching him for a picture/autograph.

A man with no agenda, just the facts and the truth. He had what many today lack: CREDIBILITY

Looking back I see how low journalism has gone. We need journalists like Mike Wallace again.

I grew up with and loved 60 Minutes because of this man.
  • Mike Wallace kept it REAL. It didn't matter who u were. An excellant journalist. My favorite interview is when he kept putting Tina Turner in her place, 4 trying 2 seperate herself from being BLACK.

Back when reporters had integrity and not just opinions and pandering. Wow what a life.

Mike Wallace conducted interviews with the pursuit for truth in mind. Outstanding Reporter.
  • In 1975 I was 5 yrs old & my parents would gather us around the TV for 60 Min every Sunday. I still watch it today but i truly miss Wallace, Safer, Bradley & Rooney. The show also took a Nosedive after the Great Producer Don Hewitt left.
