In the Philippines, we uncover the inner workings of human trafficking syndicates who con Chinese nationals into entering the country to work illegally in online gambling operations. Runaways are caught, beaten up and ransomed for huge amounts of money.

The Philippines Senate conducts an inquiry into the illegal activities of these online gambling companies and uncovers a bribery scheme at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Bureau of Immigration. It also reveals how prostitution rings are being run like food delivery businesses on social messaging apps.

Is the Philippines at risk of becoming a hub for the criminal operations of these online gambling companies? And why haven’t the authorities managed to crackdown completely on them?

this documentary needs to be published in mainstream media of the philippines. It is saddening that an international entity like CNA would be the first one to expose this..

The Philippines should not be used as the playground of syndicates and criminal activities by the bad elements.
  • Risa Hontiveros the only senator that truly works by its principle and conscience.

Nice documentary. Thank you for exposing the corrupt activities happening in the country. Atleast, this is an eye opener for Filipinos to vote for government officials who have integrity. Not those who would just say "joke lang" if they failed us.

POGO is a big mistake. Should be abolish and stop operating in the Philippines. Lives are shattered by POGO. Gambling is always bad, and the government should not be permitting this to operate.

I have watched a 60 Minutes Australia episode that Chinese gambling junkets that are fronts for money laundering (That was in a famous Australian hotel that changed their name recently). I can name one junket that has a branch here in the Philippines: SUN CITY GROUP.

I have worked as a shuttle driver for POGO for 3 years and so far I can say is I'm thankful that I was employed in a good company that pays on time and they have been very good to me. But I have seen some of the employees, even the big bosses is that most of them squander their money here through physical casinos, drinking almost everyday and hiring prostitutes. I heard most of the employees they hire is from far-flung provinces in China coming from poor families and they come back to their families after 6 months (because they only have tourist visa, not working visa) empty handed. I can see the upside on our economy these POGO operations benefit like rental fees, tax collections, they support the local economy around them, jobs for Filipinos but there are so much evil and bad outcomes that they unleash (the nature of the business was evil to begin with). That's why we need our legislators to think about policies that will benefit both us Filipinos and the Chinese people for the greater good.

Experts say that children are not born criminals, nor pampered parasites. They are made that way by the environment in which they live.
