Honestly the best way to enjoy a series is to ignore the hype from the internet, every fandom is going to claim their manga is “peak” and everything else is worse.

When your realize that the art also got a character development in Usogui.

Really like Usogui but all the fans say is, "Usogui peak", "Usogui underrated", and "Baku negs all". What I see absolutely nobody talk about is how good the epilogue is. It's so damn good and is my favorite part of Usogui and is my favorite ending to a story

I prefer a manga to start slow at first then peaks at the end than a manga with a strong start and falls off at the end
  • @Dark-lh2mc
Peak writing, incredible characters, art that constantly improves, magic that attracts you to keep watching it until the end. Usogui is not just a manga, it is an indescribable feeling.

The foreshadowing in this manga was insane too

I'm still on the hangman arc and I think it's really good, so hearing all these people say that the first bit is dogshit in comparison to the rest of the series makes me think that this will probably be one of my favourite animanga

The twist on the kingdoms take over is the greatest I've ever read, when Baku's plan is revealed I was standing in awe. Is something you can arrive clearly through logic, unlike a lot of betting manga, and yet you never think about the possibility

My primary reasons for loving the series is how it handles the concept of individuality, destiny, and life. Baku's primary motivation is to defy fate. He wants to exert his own will upon the world by betting his own life in death games. He seeks the thrill of conquering fate and winning purely through his own ability. Souichi, however, attributes his position as the leader in Kakerou as his "fate" because of his mother's recording. His mother saw extraordinary potential in Souichi even before he was born and Souichi wants to live up to this ideal as "perfection". He believes that he will be "the man who will keep winning" because he is fated to win. However, Baku shatters that delusion by showing Hal that he can never achieve true perfection. He is the perfect antithesis to Baku. Individuality vs Conformity, Freedom vs Slavery, An unknown future vs a predetermined fate.

The final arc of Usogui is a man with heart problems gambling against a man with dementia mediated by a man with broken arms

Sako Toshio really cooked and marinated his decade-long manga EVERY week and still managed to put out a masterpiece with one of the greatest art progression, interesting characters, and the most hype/mind-bending moments in manga.

Usogui is pure greatness, a different kind of fiction. So layered and so well made, and the art progression is just something else. The characters are where it really shines, Baku and Souichi are one of the best protag and antag duo’s ever. Their dynamic and parallels is incredible with so much depth, and is such a genius relationship. Kyara I think is arguably one of the best side characters ever, and his conclusion is just incredible. The last three arcs are phenomenal and you’d be hard pressed to find a three arc stretch as good as Protoporos, Air Poker and Surpassing The Leader. I truly do think it’s an extremely underrated masterpiece, and should be held in as high regard as the other greats of manga.

Honestly when this manga was getting popular through outsmarting debates and everything I was so happy that this underrated masterpiece is getting recognition but recently I have seen many people have started hating it without even reading and I think in the next few months this manga will get monster treatment….although I am an Usogui fanboy but many agree that this is one of the best works but now I feel like I would have been a lot better if it was unknown cause having a smaller and good fanbase is better than having a toxic one

read this manga years ago and it was a stellar experience. it's quite the lengthy read, but it pays off dividends along with the gorgeous artwork. the actual gambling matches themselves get pretty creative while fights are even more spectacular.
  • @KingLiebert
That moment after STL where baku thinks that soichi got back up (even though it was just anxiety) made me half-faint cuz i knew baku COULD NOT move any further.
