A guide revealing 10 of the best base game objects that you need to start using or that you may be overlooking in The Sims 4. This includes objects that add a lot of gameplay, like the Cowplant and the Magic PlantSim stump, as well as objects that you might not have thought to use, such as the digitalistic sketchpad and storage boxes. Note that I have avoided obvious objects that are standouts, such as the woodworking bench in order to highlight objects that are a little more obscure or used less. Please like and comment, and Subscribe here: bit.ly/2ZM0L4h

The 10 standout objects (in my opinion) are:
1. Digitalistic Sketchpad
2. Cowplant
3. Birthday Hot Tub
4. Nanocan Touchless Trash Can
5. Rocket ships
6. Magic PlantSim Stump
7. Cameras
8. Laser Light Show
9. Cupcake Factory
10. Storage Boxes [Ornate Beauty / Buyer Beware]

  • My favourite discovery was the coolala defender light that prevents the monster under the bed. I got basegame & parenthood together so always used the parenthood nightlight until someone pointed out the basegame version (I still usually go back to the parenthood one but its nice to have options). No more kids waking up the whole family in the middle of the night because they are too scared to sleep.
  • Another thing: I find that my Sims often drink part of a pot of coffee and don't finish it, so what I do now is have them grab a drink but not drink it and drag the extra coffee cups into the fridge. This is particularly good when your sim does not have simoleons to throw away

The easiest way to get a cow plant is if you have the City Living pack. The Spice Festival has a number of plants that you can harvest and you can almost always get a cow plant berry from selecting “harvest all”. You don’t even need gardening skill

I always use the laser show for my toddlers and I size it down to make it like a realistic night light
  • About the last storage chest: there’s a mod called under counter storage that utilizes that feature for kitchen appliances and it’s pretty easy to mod new objects to also be storeable

Also the bonsai bush is a great way to learn gardening skill before you can fertilise plants at skill level 3. If you have Seasons, your sims will also learn flower arranging as well as gardening while trimming the overgrowth and shaping the bonsai

08:26 Ok, that's just very practical! In other words, we can add chest in the crafting rooms, effectively clearing out the Sims personal inventories. Great thinking right there. :)

That's the only trashcan I use lol. I've been delving more into base game items in my builds lately, because there are many things that get overlooked and are fantastic

The "Let There Be Light! Laser Show" is from Digital Deluxe (which costs an additional amount of $15 when bought together with the base game), so it's not a standard base game item.

I thought the laser light show thing was only available if you purchase the upgraded version of the base game. You get the tiki bar and the animal hats eith that version. In just the regular base game they are not available.

The laser light show also gives toddlers a +1 happy moodlet which is great for getting their skills up faster

I’m already aware of that trash can, the reason I don’t use it a lot is because it’s only available in one color swatch and it won’t match all the kitchens/rooms I built. Edit: if only they have more (preferably darker) color swatches, I'd definitely use it a lot more

You can also put the veggies and fruits in the fridge, meanwhile the flowers can be placed in the flower arranging table. 😉
  • I love the Nanocan! It really comes in handy when you're doing something like the 100 Baby Challenge or a Legacy Challenge, where you have a lot of sims in your household.

i've played the sims 4 purely base game for a month and a couple of weeks before buying any expansion, so this was nice to see! bc base game isn't as boring as everyone thinks imo. :') another thing I never knew about (until i watched a Deli LP) was the elements chart! i had no idea that collected elements could be displayed there! it was mindblowing to me lol.

When I first started playing The Sims 4, I used most of these 😂 one of my sims was an astronaut, and her husband was a tech guru. They had a rocket ship in their backyard and a cupcake factory in their kitchen. I never had time to cook for their three kids, and I didn’t know how to age up kids into teens, so they lived off of cupcakes.
  • The boxes to put things in are my favorite overlooked items in the game. And with (i think) eco lifestyle the cardboard boxes (maybe added to base game idk) with little sorting images and the ability to name them are the absolute best!
  • @Nanna117
I didn't even know, this laser show thing exists😲
